MY YAMAHA WAS MADE IN 2001 AND IN KOREA (PEOPLE SAY THIS IS BAD I DONT REALLY CARE THEY ARE JUST CHEAPER)
THE RBX HAS 22 FREATZ (GREAT 2 OCTIVE BASS)THIS BASS IS ALSO A 5 STRING.
THE CONTROLS ARE BASS BOOST/CUT TREBLE BOOST/CUT PICK POT PICK UP SELECTOR (THIS BASS COULD HAVE DONE WITH A MID BOOST/CUT BUT ITS A #300 POUND BASS)
THE PICK UPS ARE 2 YAMAHA SOAP BARS THAT GIVE OUT A BEEFY TONE WITH ONE HECK OF A LOT OF POWER AND THE TREBLE IS GOOD TOO.
THIS BASS IS ACTIVE (THIS IS STRANGE FOR A BASS AT THIS PRICE)
THE BODY IS SOLID ASH AND THE NECK IS MAPLE AND ROSEWOOD
THE COULOURS YOU CAN GET THIS BASS ARE TRANSPARENT RED GREEN AND BLUE
THE LOOK OF THIS BASS IS A BIT RETRO WITH A HINT OF GRUNGE BUT WHAT IS GREAT IS THAT NO OTHER BASS LOOKS LIKE IT APART FROM ANOTHER RBX BASS.

NOW THIS BASS IS THE BEST 5STRING I HAVE PLAYER IN THE 250 TO 500 POUND SECTION AND IS NUMBER 2 IN MY 500 TO 75O AND 3RD IN MY 750 TO 1000 POUND RANGE NO JOKE IT SOUNDS LIKE A PROS BASS AND A FRACTION OF THE COST AND I HAVE BASS SET UP ON A REALLY BASSY TONE AND IT CAN HANDLE IT WHEN I WONT LOADS OF TREBLE IT CAN DO IT YOU WONT IT IT DOES IT. I USE THIS BASS WITH A PEAVEY STACK AND A PV COMBO.
THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE WITH THIS BASS IS THE NECK IS LIKE A PLANK REALLY IT IS MASSIVE AND THIS MAKES THE BASS HARDER TO GET USED TOO.

I THINK ITS SILLY PEOPLE JUDGE THE ACTION WHEN IT COMES OUT OF THE FACTORY BECOUSE WHEN I GOT THE BASS I THOURGHT THE ACTION WAS TOO LOW BUT MY FRIEND WAS SAYING HOW HIGH THE ACTION WAS PEOPLE SHOULD SET THE BASS UP FOR THEM BECAUSE EVERYONE PLAYS DIFFRENTLY I THOURGHT THE BASS WAS PUT TOGTHER WELL AND WAS WHAT I EXPECTED A BASS THAT IS SOLID AND BULT WELL WHAT WOULD YOU EXPECT FROM A NEW BASS

5 strings. golden hardware. 2 humbuckers active YAMAHA pickups. 4 active controls (vol, pan, treble, bass). color: translucid red. korean made. 34" scale neck. I love the look of this bass, agressive, cutting edge design

I play mainly progressive rock and some classic rock. The sound of this bass fits perfectly for this styles. I was looking the versatility of John Myung's RBX6JM bass, and I founded it, almost (the RBX& has 5 controls and alnico pickups). Although, the growl that this bass delivers with 100% eq bass is great. The treble maybe a little bit ?weak?, but with a little turn on the knobs of mi Warwick Sweet15 amp, that problem dissapears. It is suposed this pickups are meant to be quiet and they do. But (maybe I'm ignorant),in front of a screen, they hum like hell... I guess that's normal... or not?... Well I don't pretend to play in front of my TV (and my band has not the budget to buy some giant screens for the shows). The sound is powerful and defined... but not perfect. A middle freq knob would be the perfection for this bass...

This is the reason why I bought this bass: the neck. It's wide enough to play with such tchniques as slapping, tapping, and others (wich I use a lot). When I was buying my bass I tested an Ibanez EDC (5 stringed)... I couldn't achieve the sound, but the string spacing was too small for my fingers (and I don't have a large hand). When I started playing this one... I felt in love.. It had a little bit high action, but a little turn of the truss rod fitted it. The intonation was good

This is my first 5-string bass. I have another Washburn xb400 (no comments, aa beautiful but terrible bass). I guess I won't buy another 5-string bass, maybe a 6-string in the future. But I know for sure that that one will be a Yamaha. Great bass. Good sound, great design

Nice gold-colored hardware (brass?). Beefy tuners that stay in tune. Maple bolt-on neck with rosewood fingerboard, alder body with ash top. 2-band eq (not 3-band, but what can ya do?), pickup pan, volume. Yamaha soapbar pickups. Battery compartment on back (the coolest invention ever). Oh yeah, and ugly red-threaded strings that last forever, so you'll have ugly, clashing red on your headstock forever!!! Not a ten because of no midrange knob.

This bass sounds very very good. Through my Ampeg B2r and Hartke speakers, this thing can really pump out the low (40 hz) end with the neck pickup. With less bass and more mid on the amp, it has a wonderful jazz sound through the bridge pickup plucked to the left of the neck pickup. When the treble controls are up too high, it buzzes, which makes recording tough. It can also make a rough, heavy, in-your-face sound with more gain on my amp and more high-mids. Good for playing anything from Latin to jazz to Tool to funk.
Tool's my favorite.

Since I bought it used 6 months, I don't know how it was set up from the factory. Right now my action is right where I want it: not so low that I can't get that scratchy fret noise I love, not so high that I get blisters. I've lowered the neck pickup a little so I can slap without hitting it. Also, nice tight B-string! The main reason I bought this is for it's wide, slap-able string spacing not found on too many middle-of-the-road 5-strings.
It has a gorgeous green finish, which accentuates the grain of the ash top and alder back so well!

This bass will last me forever. Though my aggressive slapping and carelessness has scrached some of the finish, the finish still looks beautiful. Nothing is wimpy on this bass, so the only problem I could imagine playing live is a dead battery, though batteries seem to last forever in this, too. I had some strap button trouble, so no I have Ibanez buttons.

This is still my favorite bass in the whole world, even after playing some pretty awesome basses that cost twice as much. Something about the feel of it...

I believe its from 1995-98 i buy it used, Made in God knows where, probably Japan or china, its a japanese bass anyways. 3 Eq an Volume, the EQ its relaly great you can get a lot of different sounds with this baby, a little futuristic, some a little bluesi and the noisy rock sound among others, Its Maple, so its heavy, i use a towel under the strap. Have 2 Soapbars Pickups Made by Yamaha, don't know model. Pretty Gold Hardware and a great translucent finish..

Thatks for the active pickups ans the great EQ the saund is just great, BUT with roundwound streings get a little noisy when you press near the fret, its very good to play live but in the studio i don't use it much i relly prefer to use other basses...
