The sound of this bass is killer. I play gospel, jazz, rock or whatever the venue calls for. This bass has a variety of good sounds. The lows are tight and focused. Highs can be piercing and the mids are well rounded. It is actually difficult to make this bass sound bad.IMO it sounds better than any other six string in its price class. The TRB1006 works well for live applications and for recording. I have many other basses costing much more than the Yamaha. Although the other basses are "status symbols", I constantly reach for the yamaha when I want to be in the pocket and be ready to shine.Sustain is excellent for a bolt on neck.

The bass was set up well from the factory and required no adjustments prior to the first gig. Playability is great. This bass is great for fingerstyle playing, thumping, double thumping and tapping.

Reliability and durability appear to be excellent. No failures yet.

I have been playing for over 30 years. I have many "high end" basses; but if this bass were lost or stolen I would replace it in a heartbeat. For the record,I don't find the 1006 to be "inferior" to the older TRB basses with bolt on necks.I suppose being made in Korea as opposed to Japan accounts for the cheaper price of the new TRB line of basses.

Rich, full, warm, bright, dark, you can have all of them! Preamp is super and very sensitive. It's better quality than that of the BB series. Stage or studio, this bass will shine. Jazz, rock, oldies, motown, fusion, punk, {although I can't picture a punk rocker playing a sixer}, this bass can do it all. It really shines for jazz and fusion.

This bass was perfect, I mean PERFECT, out of the box!
I tuned up, checked the intonation and everything was dead on! The action is super low and slickery with no fret buzz whatsoever!
I almost passed out when I saw all this! I never, ever, purchased a bass that didn't need some kind of set up. The strings chosen for this bass fit it. I use D'Addario's anyway so I was thrilled.
The fretboard was nice and shiny and nourished so I won't be oiling for some time. It's a dream to play, almost as good as sex! Top notch quality, that destroys any Fender I've ever owned. I traded an American Marcus Miller V string for this because the Marcus' trussrod was maxxed out! I only had the bass for 4 Months!
The TRB beats it hands down for durability, looks, sound, and versatility! Everything was perfectly set up out of the box!
I could never say that about any Fender! Even an $1800 Signature bass! All I could say is Fender, You Blew It! I picked up this TRB 1006 and a BB 615 in the same day making several Squire and Fender trades in the process. I only had to shell out $100 but it was worth it!

Professional Quality Six String Bass!
Every aspect of this work of art is top notch and the attention to detail was very precise! Runs on a 9vt battery so take a spare.
There is no bypass switch.

I e-Mailed the company asking a few questions about trussrod adjustments on this bass and yes, both rods go in the same direction.
Righty tighty, lefty loosey. They e-mailed me back in an hour! The treble side holds more tension than the bass side however so be sure to take that into consideration when making your own truss adjustments on this beautiful beast!
If you feel leery about double rods, go to a luthier! Iv'e been adjusting my own basses for ten years now so if I take it slow and careful I think I can pull it off if I had to, but I don't see that happening for a long while. Two rods mean a stiffer more stable neck!

Only thing I wish it had was a bypass switch. Other than that, nothing but praise for this Jazz Machine!

Made in Korea in 2006, 24 frets 6 strings (18mm. spacing), body in alder (three pieces) with an amazing quilted maple top, three pieces rhard maple neck and rosewood fingerboard.
Two Hum Ccancelling yamaha piuck ups with active electronic and five pots: volume, pick up mix, bass, middle, treble.
The style of the body is the pypical TRB one and I bought the trans black version (really fine!).
The bridge it is surely a cheap one, but it works good. Perhaps someone could need a heavier one to increase the sustain, but there are surely different opinions about this.
The tuners are Yamaha ones and they do their work. The scale is 35" with medium jumbo frets (I suppose). The bass come without any accssories.

I had some enclosures and effects I didn't use anymore, so I decided to go to a guitar shop to change them with a new bass. I wanted a new 6 string with much more string spacing than my Sandberg KT6 (it's 16,5 mm.) so I tested this Yamaha, even if I don't like 35" scale. The most I played it and the most I was surprised in a good way! I Like its opwn sound: it has no surely the sustain of my Pedulla, or the growl of the G&L, or the comfort of the Sandberg, but it has a good part of everyone of this caracteristics all in one. It's own sound it is good esopecially if you use both the piuck ups. Choosing only one of them it is not a good way to get the better sound IMHO, exactly as if you turn the controls of the tones to their maximum position.
It has a good low end, deep bases, a good low B, every note is always clear and present in every point of the fretboard, a good sustain and punch. I did not find any lack of sound in this bass.
Even with its own strings and a surely no good setup it impressed me, especially for the money it costs!. I use it with a Markbass LMK head and an ATS BS2x12CH enclosure and this rig let me hear the real sound of every bass, with its own good and bad points. This bass has a good sound of its own, rich, brilliant, easily useful for the most styles of music. Using the electronic and changing the right hand position you can obain a great variety of sonds and so this could be the "everyday bass" for the most of players. It is good surely for live, but I think that after some months of use and a visit to a luthier to control the fretboard, it coauld be a good "stuydio weapon", especailly because it isn't absolutely noisy!

as I bring it at home I made a good set up, adjusting the strings height to low action (it had a really high one from the factory), and tuning the pick ups eight. The neck was already at a good setting. It needed only few minutes and the plat??yability of this bass increased much more.
Finishes are good and perhaps it will need only a little frets levelling in the future (as the most of industrial basses and some expensive too) if you want an action lower than low!
this bass has no flaws. It is well built and there are no particular lacks in the finishing. perhaps only the frets could have been more round at their extreme sides, but it is only a question of feelings, because they don't hurt the hand in any way.

It seems to be a long lasting bass, lighter than a lot of six string basses, but solid, with good tuners and perhaps only the bridge could be better, but as I said before it works really well.
I've used it daily for some weeks and it seems to be resistent and affordable, even if in my opinion it is always useful to bring two basses.... No one knows what can happen.... but I do this with everyone of my basses.
The neck semms to be really steady and to need few adjustements. Perhaps only the high gloss finish seems to be a little delicate, but this it is only an impression due to the beauty of the finish itself.

I've played for a lot of years (with some stop due to my job) and Iown a Pedulla TB5, a G&L tribute L2500, a Sandberg KT6 and some other basses. I play them with a Markbass LMK, ATS BS2x12CH and a combo Markbass CMD121 (for the little pubs, Sansamp, Multicomp ecc.
If it was stolen I would buy it again, probably trying to test an old TRB for its string spacing (TRB1006 is 18mm and the old TRb are 19 mm.) However always a TRB one! I think the only one think that could be beter is the electronic, but I will do if I feel the need after some gigs... It is a bass that surely cut the mix, and allows you to play every style. Someone could tell that it has no personality, but I think that it has a lot of different personalities, and everyone can choose the one thet he likes! My favourite features are the comfort and the complete scale of sound, the possibility to play differnt music styles without changing the bass.
Surely a good product especially if we consider its price! I think it is the best 6 strings under 1000/1300 euros (and it is even better than some much more expensive basses) for those who like an important string spacing and are searching a 6 string even for the slap.
It can be consodered rally both a fantastic entry level for those who need to test themselves on a 6 string, but also a professional bass for studio and lives.
Even if the final rating shpould be 9 I gave it 10 for the high level of quality considered with its price!

Made in about 2005, bought it in Germany in sept 2006. Fell in love immediately with the translucent red color, the shape, the neck and the sound. Both amplified and unamplified. Has a wonderfull 3 band EQ, with fixed frequencies, which are OK. 24 frets, three layers of wood plus a maple veneer top. Two hum canceling PU's, volume and balance. Satin maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, black hardware.

It has a gorgeous tone. In fact, it has lots of wondefull tones. I like mids scooped, and it roars like a lion. With more mids and less highs, it sounds more traditional. Everything in between can be found without touching the amp, just with the mix, and the tone controls. Absolutely superb. A slight amount of noice if highs are wide open or if one PU is used. Nothing unusual for an active bass.
I play through an Engl Souvereign guitar amp. If I don't play too loud, it sound wonderfull, roaring if i want, sweet when choosen.

Someone wrote somewhere that the string spacing is too narrow for slapping and popping. That may be right if you are used to others, but I vcan find my way easily on this neck and with this spacing. right out of the shop it played superb, but for slapping I wanted to tweek the string height and neck rounding a little. No problem. Very reactive on turning the truss rod, and the bridge can be adjusted without problems.
Body coating has a few minor flaws, looks like removed drops of plyesther, dunno. From, 1 meter distance this bass is absolutely gorgeous.

Would you be able to do any harm to a massive tree without having the intention to saw it? This bass looks very durable. Controls, hardware, body and neck wood are very solid. May be the hardware isn't too durable, seems painted iso coated, but haven't had any damages yet. The strap buttons are OK, but I always use dunlop strap-locks. Body coating is a woinderfull shinning thick layer, i expect no problems there.

I mainly play guitar, had an Ibanex blazer bass for 20 years, but really needed a new challenge for bass playing. Since I bought this, I hardly play my PRS and Gibson. For how long it takes :-).
As said, I love the looks, the sound and the feeling, and it ain't a woman.
A six-string for this price, with tgis quality. Compared it with Dean, Ibanez and Music man and OLP five strings. Sound, looks and feel made me choose this one.
