Sonic evaluation: The Persuader isn?t as hot as the Persuader Lead or Persuader Lead Custom, but it works great for jamming on some blues and getting a solid rock tone. When I set my amp up for using the neck pickup and then switch to the bridge when playing clean, there is a bit too much treble for my taste and I need a quick tweak. Most people compare these to EMGs because of how they look. I?ve only ever played EMG HZs, so I can?t really comment on their sound. What I do know is that with APCs you don?t need batteries or a potentiometer change.

Comments: I had the pickups wired in parallel at first just to try it out and the output was still hotter than stock. I liked the sounds I got. They weren?t the full humbucker sound I was used to but it was still interesting to experiment. After changing the wiring to series, there was a boost in output and no noise coming from the pickups. Now I have the full humbucker sound. These pickups have a good deal of treble for having such high output. When I use them with effects they really shine. I even used it through a friend?s cheap Danelectro phaser and it sounded great! I think I?m spoiled by APC pickups. I really don?t want anything else now.
