Custom Usa Strat, light weight Alder body.fat neck with rosewood fretboard

These are very good! They have a full and warm sound, punchy without being aggressive, while still retaining that classic sweet strat tone. I play funk, blues and rock and these were at home with everything. very responsive.when they first went on I played for hours I couldn't put the guitar down! it's tough falling asleep with a guitar in your arms while you're still trying to chop out hendrix riffs! Rich, sweet, warm perhaps even juicy! PHAT!

Overall Rating : 10
Bare in mind the guitar I have these in was made by some of the best people in the world and is probably far better than most Fender built strats , so that will have a large factor in how good it sounds but you can imediately tell that these pickups are of a great build quality, So for the time being they are definately staying where they are, my guitar feels complete

Features :
Single coil. According to builder, impedance is similar to Texas Specials.

Instrument :
I installed these in a Classic Player's 50s Strat. This is the third set of pickups I've had in this guitar: the factory-installed 57/62s, Suhr Fletcher-Landau Classics, and now the SPs. I wanted pickups with a bit more character than the stock ones, and more output than the Suhrs.

Sound : 9
These pups manage to give up gobs of Straty quack and chime while still driving stomp box and amp. Tone is sparkling, but without ice pick-in-the-ear highs (my personal unpardonable sin). The bridge pup closes in on Tele tone, again without being harsh in the upper frequencies. Bass and mids on all three pickups are balanced and well-defined. These may actually rate a 10, but I always have to allow for the possibility that something I've not tried may sound a bit better, though in this case that would be pretty unlikely. I play jazz, rock, blues, and Latin, pretty much in that order, but I use the strat for rock and blues.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for better than 30 years. I own a '52 RI Tele, a dot 335 RI, a '61 L7, and a '69 Johnny Smith. I play these through an original Mesa Boogie Mark I, a 5F6 homebrew Bassman, a modified Pro Jr., an Acoustic Image/Raezer's Edge combo, and a Tech 21 Trademark 60.

I installed the Suhr Classics after reading about them on The Gear Page and elsewhere as coming as close as you can get to real vintage Strat tone. They had wonderful chime and quack, but lacked "cojones." The Amalfitanos solve that problem. Now when I pick up the Strat, kick on the amp, and play a few notes, I have to smile.

Amalfitano (LEFTY)SP hot Strat pickups. These are hand made & scatter-wound manufactured to Aircraft engineering specification.

Instrument :
I had these fitted first to a 96 lefty G&L Legacy and I loaned that guitar long term to UK Jazz/Fusion sensation, Guitarist John Wheatcroft. John is one of the UK's finnest guitarist's and he has far more experience than most of us. He was so blown away with these pickups he's had them fitted in his own Strat.

I have since had the Amalfitano pickups fitted in an early 80's Tokai Strat and that guitar now outshines any of my more expensive Strat's and G&L's.

Sound : 10
John Wheatcroft was so blown away with these pups he's talked Chandler Guitars into stocking them. As well as John Mayall's great guitarist Buddy Whittington & Texas supremo Rocky Athas, UK Blues sensation Matt Schofield uses them.
The sound is simply wonderfull & full bodied and can make a cheap guitar sound FAR FAR better than you would dare to believe.

Overall Rating : 10
Mr Amalfitano repairs million dollar Jet engines in his spare time and his attention to detail shows. The only problem with these pickups is, if you fit them in a cheapo Strat they'll make you wonder why you paid so much for that Custom Shop jobbie when it doesn't sound half as good.
Amalfitano is one of the good guys in this industry and you deal with the guy who actually hand makes them.

Passive single coils

Instrument :
Fender American '62 RI Strat
Fender Stratocaster body w/Warmoth neck

Sound : 10
These are vintage style pickups, with moderate output. They are absolutely the most open & complex sounding Stratocaster pickups I've ever heard. It has to be the scatter winding. Maybe he dances around them with a dead chicken or something. Whatever it is, it works. Your guitar will sound like a Stratocaster, but like the best sounding Stratocaster you've ever heard. I just can't believe how good these are.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
The only reason I have Stratocasters is because of Amalfitano's Stratocaster pickups.

Single coil pick ups for Stratocaster. Scatter wound #42 vintage enameled magnetic wire wrapped around a custom stagger patern of powerful alnico 5 magnets. Neck 6.2K ohms, Middle 6.5K ohms reverse wound reverse polarity, Bridge 7.0K ohms.

Instrument :
I installed them on a 20 year old custom strat, serial number under 10,000. I replaced seymore duncan alnico 2 neck, Vintage middle, hot for strat bridge. I was told Coco Montoya is using them.
I changed the pick ups because I was not gaetting a fat sound out of my neck position.

Sound : 10
I play through a 15 watt Sampson, Matchless Lightening 2x10. Great amp. The pick up out put level is now outstanding. The tone is wonderfully harmonicaly complex. They really give the strat a growling attitude and the Strat sound is still there. I now have a monster strat with fat mids and no harshness. And if you can believe it the highs are beutifull also. Hit that hi e string and bend it a step and a half, a little vibrato and the pick up just makes it scream. All five positions on the strat are now usable. I can't say enough about Jerry's product.

Overall Rating : 10
I would buy the SP again. I have been playing 42 years. I am very satisfied with Jerry Amalfitano SP for strat pick ups. I read about his pick ups in a product review artical in Tone Quest Report. It was a great write up for Jerry. Tone Quest is the tone Bible. What they say carries alot of weight. I am very satisfied with the pick ups, they will stay in that Strat. It is my work horse and is named Daily Driver. It has a nine and a half to twelve inch rompound radius neck, Dunlop 6100 fat frets, nitro cellulous pick gaurd and Jerry's SP's. Smoking, Fat, Growling monster. Of course I am always searching for tone. The next project will be an american strat loaded with Fender custom shop 69's wrapped by Abagail. Or wait a minute, Jerry has a vintage set of pick ups. Ok I will build two more Strats.

Features :
This is the SP set of hand "Scatter-Wound" pickups made by Amalfitano for the Strat. The SPs are passive single coils and completely assembled by hand. They are slightly hotter than the VS set also offered by Jerry (Amalfitano). The specs are 7.0 K ohms for the Bridge pickup, 6.5 K ohms (RWRP) for the Middle pickup and 6.2 K ohms for the Neck. All have Alnico 5 magnets for power and clarity.

The pickups come assembled using vintage colour-coded cloth covered wire leads and are heavily wax potted to eliminate microphonics.

Instrument :
I installed the SPs in my 1984 Tokai "Strat". I wanted to upgrade the thin-sounding original issue Tokai Pups with a quality after-market type (....think any number of US/UK/Aussie brands etc.). I'd pretty much narrowed in down to a set of Fralins when a guitar buddy of mine here in the UK mentioned Amalfitano pickups - he rated them highly after installing a set of SPs in one of his guitars. My Tokai has a maple neck and fretboard and although I always liked the construction and clean sound of the guitar, I was unprepared for the orders of magnitude improvement in sheer sound quality these pickups achieve. To say that I was overwhelmed would be an undertatement.

Sound : 10
First off I must say these pickups are PURE CLASS. The output is smooth and powerful (if you install them close to the strings as Jerry recommends) and you get a kick out of knowing you've got the goods under the hood when you need it. As another reviewer remarked they retain the same tone throughout the volume range. They are very clean, transparent and chimey sounding through my Peavey Classic 30 and (recording)through a Tech 21 Trademark 10 - not tried them with anything fiercer yet. The tone and balance is what I'd expect from a well made hand wound pickup set and to some extent even better.

I play mostly Blues and Pop/Rock with some Chickin' Pickin country stuff.

After collecting the Tokai from my tech/luthier - fitted with the SPs - I plugged into my Peavey Classic 30, set to clean with a little reverb..........and I noodled for over 2 hours solid! I couldn't put the guitar down. I thought I knew what my 22-year old guitar sounded like but each position on the 5-way switch was a new experience to explore. A sonic revelation - beautiful chimey sounds with incredible detail and straight-ahead tone. I had all the pots, switch and caps changed, a stereo jack for better earthing and everything rewired with vintage cloth-covered wire. This all helped to make for a great sound. My luthier said the SP pickups sounded exactly how he would expect hand wound Strat pickups to sound (I took this as a compliment - he has been making bespoke guitars and hand-winding pickups for many noted UK bands for over 30 years!).

Overall Rating : 10
I am very satisfied with the sound and performance of these pickups and would readily fit Amalfitano pickups into my other guitars. I guarantee they will impress and disarm you.

I've been playing guitar since the mid 70's off and on and have only really got back into guitars again and into the "teccy" side of guitars/amps in the last 10 years. I own a trio of Guilds (Bluesbird, Starfire IV and III), various Tokais, a cluster of Fender Strats/Teles (Mexican) and a Godin LG P90, plus a quartet of Martin, Larrivee, Tacoma and acoustics.

Features :
These are an SP set made by Amalfitano Pickups. They are the hotter of the two sets offered for a Strat. They are passive single coils constructed the old fashioned way, (completely assembled by hand). The specs for the Bridge pickup 7.0 K ohms, Middle pickup 6.5 K ohms, Neck pickup 6.2 K ohms. All have Alnico 5 magnets for power and clarity.

Instrument :
I installed the SP Set in a $269.00 1996 Fender Mexican Strat hoping they would make it sound better. To my surprise, they actually sounded better that my friends Custom Shop Anniversary Strat which he paid dearly for. I couldn't believe that just by changing the pickups my little 'ol MIM Strat would have even come close to a Custom Shop Strat nevertheless surpass it in tone. I think my friend is jealous now...but who cares.

Sound : 10
The output is there when you want it. One excellent feature these pickups offer and I have never come across this with any other single coil pickups are the fact that when you roll back the volume they just get lower not muddier or bassier. They retain the same tone only at a lower volume. They are very clean and transparent sounding through my Super Reverb amp, but will definitely push the front side of an amp when cranked as exhibited with my friend's Marshall. The tone and balance is what I'd expect from a well made hand wound pickup set and to some extent even better. They are even quieter than all single coil pickups I've had, coupled with the fact that the middle pickup is RWRP for true quiet in positions 2 & 4. I play mostly Blues and Rock and these Amalfitano Pickups work GREAT!

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing guitar since the 70's and I can't figure out why it took so long for someone to create a pickup set that is a cut above the rest. You would think the technolagy was there years ago. I guess it's all about cutting corners and making a buck. I'm just glad that Amalfitano Pickups came around to bail us out of the commercial crap that's out there. I would highly recommend these to any player whose serious about tone and quality. You can find these on the web, that's where I got mine. A small price to pay for something so good.
