The Amber Classic Standard is PAF-style Humbucker with an AlNiCo II magnet and an impedance of 6.87 kOhms. I ordered it with an aged nickel cover. Amber pickups are not waxed.

I put this pickup into the neck position of my 2001 Gibson Les Paul 58 Reissue. The guitar came stock with a Gibson Classic 57, which did not produce the vintage sound that I was looking for, but simply sounded too fat, even muddy at higher gain settings.

This is my equipment: Gibson Les Paul - Fulltone Standard Gold Cable - Maxon OD 808 - Marshall Jackhammer - Tonehunter Dual Mod Distortion - Ibanez Ad 9 Delay - Diezel Vh 4 Amp.
This Amber pickup produces exactly the sound that I was looking for. Although I have never had the cahnce to play an original late 50s Gibson PAF, the Amber Classic Standard sounds exactly like those old Peter Green / Free / Eric Clapton recordings. They are outstanding with every gain setting: clean , bluesy overdrive, crunch, high gain lead. Moreover they correspond great with the volume control of your guitar. With the volume all the way up in a clean setting they sound rich, turn the volume down and you will get a Fenderish sound, turn it down a little more and it will sound almost like an accoustic. With your amp set at a blues sound, the Amber will give you this Peter Green/Gary Moore kind of sound. Add a liitle more gain and you are in a Gary Moore - Still Got The Blues or in a Slash terrain. As you can tell, I mostly play Classic Rock (ZZ Top, Aerosmith, Gary Moore, Van Halen and thr like)

I would like to provide a little background information on the Amber company, so you know why I'm so thrilled with this pickup. The owner of Amber pickups is Wolfgang Damm. He used to work for Gibson's German distributor M+T for many years. During his time for M+T he developed the P 94 pickup for Gibson - you know, this P 90 with a humbucker format. So this guy really knows pickups.
When I first read about Amber pickups I thought I would like to give them a try, so I mailed them. I got an answer the same day. What really impressed me was that Wolfgang Damm even recommended products of competitors on the market. I explained the kind of sound that I wanted and he told me that he could do it -and I can tell you: he really can. So - an A+ for customer service.
