Features
:
Single coil Alnico V staggered to vintage specs, black vulcanized fiber flatwork, Formvar 42 AWG wire, vintage cloth covered push back lead wires and potted in wax. These PUPS were designed according to SRV's vintage '63 PUPS, even to the exact resistance.
Instrument

Installed on my '62 Sonic Blue Relic Strat. Since I'm a lefty, I couldn't get CS 69's in left-handed. I wanted something with a little gain and yet a neck pickup that would just melt the ears of anyone listening to my Fender tube amps.

From the B&R site...."1963 was noted as fenders hottest year for pickups and the best sounding for blues. With more windings making them more responsive, dynamic, and much more friendly for higher gain setting that blues players demand."
The reason I copied this statement is because it best describes these babies. Very articulate and dynamic indeed. And they aren't just for Blues and smooth overdrive. These things sound fantastic cracnking away some Classic Rock. Playing through a Fender Champ or Twin Reverb, your ears get a visual as to how relic'd my Strat looks. It's just vintage baby. Playing anything from David Gilmour sounds just fantastic and I especially like the sound of my old Big Muff and ColorDrive booster for a high gain octane filling of Young Lust.

I won one of B & R's auctions for the set, for $100. I was motivated by three things....vintage specs and craftsmanship, left-handed at no additional charge and he's based in CT where I'm originally from. As lefties, our options are limited for staggered PUPS. I own some CS 54's in another Strat and I love them also. B & R makes a '56 version and after playing these for a few days I'm very much inclined to give them a shot in my '65 Strat project. The craftsmanship is top notch and the communication was courteous and quick. Highly recommend you give this relative unknown your business. You won't be disappointed!!
