Artists using this pickup: ?????
You musical style(s): R&B abd blues on the esquire
Reason for pickup change: dissillusioned with the pick ups i'd had on this guitar, and i've had loads, quarterpounders, hot rails, no names, non were right or did the guitar justice.
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: Hot vintage output, not like a hot rails.
Tone: unbeleivably well balanced, goes from sweet to biting and anywhere in between.
Sonic evaluation: played it in the esquire thru a traynor 25watt all valve 112 combo, i did try it thru my vox ad120vt but it didn't react as well.
thru a valve amp, this really is magnificent, by using the volume and control pots i could get any sound i wanted really, from smooth fat rythm to stinging lead, rich harmonics to dirty grind, i was stunned, this is again becoming my favourite guitar.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: R&B and blues (black keys style)
Overall Rating
:
10
Comments: If it were stolen i would buy one, this one i didn't, as i said earlier i borrowed it.
there isn't anything i don't like about it, it gives me the tone i want and it will drive the amp the way i want, without a tubescreamer.
i would really like to thank my mate for the present (he eventually gave in and let me keep it as a 40th birthday present), he's now ordered another.
if you want a versatile pickup that can be sweet and soft to dirty and grinding, buy these, you WILL NOT be disappointed.
