Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: Korean made Epiphone Casino
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: Seymour Duncan Antiquity
Other pickups on guitar:
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): British era rock
Reason for pickup change: Seymour duncans were not potted(NOTE THIS!!!).
And I was not totally happy with them anyway. Might have been a wrong type of guitar. They clearly are not designed for casino model(nickel mounted covers needed etc.) Tim doesn't make those casino pickups either, but he suggested that I would have him rewind the original pickups that came with the epi(Boy, are they hot and extremely not waxed. Guitar is feedbacking itself with them). Thank Allah I didn't throw them away. So I sended the originals to him and he rewired them and put two alnico IV pieces. Voila!
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: Extremely original type of P90 output at it's best.
Tone: Bridge is middy with some mustard brakes nicely when overdrived. Neck is clear and crisp. Just as they should be.
Sonic evaluation: Fended Hotrod Deville(clean channel). Main driver is EHX English Muff'n and loads of nice cool pedals and a tape echo.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable:

Comments: If these were stolen I would buy Kent Armstrongs Casino model pickups and send them to a firm called Bare Knuckle Pickups.
Like all others here: He provides a fenomenal customer support.
You don't always heve to buy replacement pickups. Just send the originals and the same work will be done, with a little less cost.

Features
:
Pickup features: single coil - bridge
Impedence or other specs: Rewound to 6.2K
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: 60's relic strat
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: N/A - rewind
Other pickups on guitar: Custom shop 60's relic middle & neck.
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): Rock&Roll, Blues....& the odd amusing country number.
Reason for pickup change: Intermittent fault developed on original pickup. First time I've had a pickup go bad on me in 30 years - especially distressing on my favourite guitar!
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: After excellent advice from Tim Mills at BKP, requested slight overwind for a bit more punch.
Tone: Sparkling, harmonically rich tone
Sonic evaluation: I use the relic strat into a 70's silver face princeton or vibro champ. Fulltone distortion pro provides gain when needed. The guitar through this set up has always sounded good but the rewind has really improved the bridge position tone and the 2nd postion 'quack'. I thought I might lose a bit of brightness with the overwind, but there is now a bit more output and plenty of responsiveness without any loss of sparkle. It just sounds fabulous.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: This rewind meets my requirements completely.

Comments: I was dismayed when the original fender pickup started to misfire. I asked BKP for guidance on how to test it & Tim Mills could not have been more helpful - quick responses to emails and really good advice on both technical stuff and how sound would be affected by overwinding etc. Tim knows his stuff - take his advice & you won't go far wrong. The service from BKP is excellent. I posted the duffer to them on a friday and had the rewind back the following tuesday. Good value too. Based on this experience I'll be using BKP pickups from now on.

Features
:
Pickup features: Single-coil - passive- Scatterwound Rewind of a pair Fralins
Impedence or other specs: Underwound to 5.8 Kohms
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: Grosh Classic (HSS - Tom Holmes + 2 x Fralins
Position: neck
Pickup being replaced: Rewinds of neck and mid position Fralins S/Cs
Other pickups on guitar: Tom Holmes bucker in the bridge
Artists using this pickup: Just me as far as I know :)
You musical style(s): Noodlings from clean, blues, jazz funk and rock. Most everything apart from shred n Death metal
Reason for pickup change: I was totally happy with the two Fralins in this Grosh. Sweet variations of Fralin hots bought from Callaham Guitars. But after a while I got to thinking. "Scatterwind - could they be made even better ??". I gave Tim Mills a bell and decided to go for it.
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: OK my Fralins weren't as underwound as I thought (Callaham says -5% on his site) but mine came in at around 6.2 kohms. Tim rewound these pickups (Alnico V magnets and 42 gauge Formvar) to get me an underwind. What I got was a scatter wind in the same gauge and an agreed underwind to 5.8 Kohms. To be honest I hardly notice an audible decrease in volume from these pickups. There obviously is one but it must be marginal, probably -2 dB or less.
Tone: Open and balanced. Vintage strat tones. Fat in the sense of "full spectrum". Dripping with character
Sonic evaluation: Dear reader - what you want to know is whether scatter-winding makes a difference, right ?? CARRAMBA ! It does ! It does! These pickups sound simply magnificent. bareknuckle took a pair of great sounding pickups and made 'em better. These things do all you want of a Strat pickup in the various postions and accordingt o string attack :- they quack, bark, sting, cluck, chime and just sound plain beautiful. My bass response seems clearer and more pronounced. The inbetween positions are just beautifully musical. There is a fullness of the spectrum there and an additional "character" to boot which is very fdifficult to define and put into words. The pickups are "more open" somehow. This is not a marginal change - it's very pronounced. In a nutshell scatter winding has made these pickups more musical. An improvement _ hell Yes ! For me - money very well spent.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: These pickups will do everything you would ask of a strat with vintage-type pickups. And do it with applomb !

Comments: If these rewinds were stolen I wouldn't replace them - I'd just order a set straight from Bareknuckle. That simple. In fact why wait ? I already ordered - see below !
I've been playing for over 30 years and have more money than talent.- can't say that I have much money either :) Guitars are Don Grosh, Palm Bay, valley Arts Custom Pro and GnL ASAT Classic. Amps: Top Hat Price Royal, Dr Z Prescription and Carr Slant 6V.
Bareknuckle is a class act. It simply doesn't get any better folks. The pickups were turned around in a day. This overseas deal was totally hassle free. Tim Mills is incredibly open, receptive and helpful. Based on this deal I have already ordered another set of Bareknuckles: - this time an Apache set. I'll review these in due course.
