DC: 22.55k approx Passive
Magnet: Alnico V
Wiring: Four Conductor
Covers: Hand Distressed Covers only
Instrument
:
Peavey V Type Purple Quilt
Bridge position
Stock bridge pickup replaced...thin bass response and too glassy
Stock neck pickup....very bright, but passable and similar output to War Pig
Various, but mainly friends who raved about them such as Tim from Limehouse Lizzy (UK's no1 Thin Lizzy tribute band).
Hated the lack of bass from the stock pickup...I like bass so heavy it incurrs involuntary bowel movements..!
Sound

F**king loud...and drives everything to hell with an EMG Afterburner installed...why do that you ask if the output is so high...? Well, it lets me drive a clean valve channel to classic crunch just using the guitar...it basically gives me some flexibility with a valve amp/
Using Engl Powerball and Basson B412 cab, Rocktron Intellifex.
Tone - Heavey, focused bass, more mid than the PV pickup, but can be dialled out on the amp if needed. Treble is spot on and not too cutting. Nice and smooth.
Anything from Black Label Society to Van Halen....
Expect it;s fine for neck or bridge.

If it were lost, destroyed in a bizarre gardening accident or kidnapped and held to ransom, then I would pay the ransom or get another.
I have been playing on and off for nearly 20 years.
I love the look and sound, but dislike that I need to buy several more to fit my other guitars now !!!
I looked at pickups from every manufacturer. I like EMG 81's wen cranked, but find them compressed and a little lifeless with clean tones.
I wish it had the ability to instil me with guitar greatness, but alas, I'm still not as good as I wish I was...!!
I love the pickup, and think my sound is almost there...it is simply an amp tweak away.
Tim at BKP is an awesome guy to deal with, very knowledgeable, and this is worth paying extra for everytime. Ilove the fact you can order custom covers also, and the Camo version is going in my Zakk Wylde Camo Epiphone..! Overkill, but what the hell....

My Warpig is a passive Alnico V humbucker and is in the neck position of my Epiphone G400 Custom. It is rated at 17 k/ohms.
Instrument
:
I installed this pickup in my epiphone G400 Custom. It is calibrated for the enck position and as such has a lower impedence. It is replacing the stock Epiphone neck pickup. The other pickups are a BKP Ceramic Warpig in the bridge position, and a BKP Pig-90 humbucker in the middle. I changed the stock pickups because I wanted more bass, drive, tightness, and a more 'organic' tone... The Pigs deliver.

The output is awesome! So much gain, so much 'push'! It's almost too much at times. I am running through a Marshall MG half stack with a DHA effects tube preamp driving it. The tone of this pickup is definatley Bassy, but not so much that it over powers the highs and mids. Overall tone is balanced while having an extremely powerful bottom end. I play mostly Doom/Stoner metal in the vein of early Sabbath and the newer bands like Sleep and High On Fire. This pickup is a match made in heaven. It can drive any vintage oriented amp/preamp into complete overdrive no problem!

I would definatley buy it again if it were lost or stolen. I haev been playing for about five years now and ahve playe through many different guitars and amps. Nothing comes close to the tone of a Warpig.

My Warpig came out to 21.5K resistance. I chose the aged nickel covers. Mine is also has the ceramic magnet.
Instrument
:
This pup went into a 2007 Gibson Les Paul Premium Plus. The Warpig is in the bridge position replacing the Burstbucker Pro. I also have the Bare Knuckle Cold Sweat in the neck position. The burstbuckers sound good, but wanted some hotter pups.

21.5k output. I play through a 5150 combo that I had modded. For effects I go through a Rocktron Chameleon. The tone is amazing with these pups. I had the Warpig coil tapped. I can get a lot if sound configeration with this setup. The Cold Sweat in the neck position is wired for series/parallel. I had the pups made as a set, so they are balanced perfectly for each other.
I play a wide range of music all on this guitar and another Les Paul with EMG's. Everything from blues to thrash metal. These Bare Knuckles can do anything.

If destroyed, I'd cry like a baby(Tim could fix anyway)WOuld definetly get another set. I'm sold!! Been playing for 18 years and was a die hard EMG supporter(which I still am), but these take you sound to a whole new level. VERY ORGANIC!! These through a tube amp, you can really feel what you are playing.
The only problem that I had with these is when they were installed. They sounded a little thin and weak. But after raising the pole pieces and pup like Tim suggested, it unleashed its full potential. Crushing tone with HUGE bottom end. Next pup will be an Alnico V magnet though.

This is the highest output pickup in the Bareknuckle Pickup line. Roughly 22K. Of passive pickups, the only pickup that I am aware of being higher output is the Kent Armstrong motherbucker.
Instrument
:
Gibson Explorer. I have tried many other pickup brands, and I have had awesome luck with other BKP models (nailbomb, miracle man, piledriver), so I decided to try out the Warpig. I put this pickup in the bridge position.
Sound
:
No Opinion
I have to completely disagree with the previous review that described this as being weak and lifeless. Of all passive pickups in existence, there really are hardly any other pickups that are as high output as the Warpig. Probably just the Kent Armstrong Motherbucker. There are only a few possibilities that I can think of: (1) "professional, experienced luthier" screwed up and signal is bleeding to ground; (2) unfair comparison -- no passive pickup will probably be able to compete in output with EMG models, but even still Warpig should come close; (3) accidentally installed a neck model in the bridge position -- neck models are always intentionally made with lower output; (4) somebody swindled you and sold you a sanded down an epiphone pickup. Would recommend you test the impedance or write Tim (if you bought it from the website), cause he will generally right whatever is wrong. Mine is smashing, massive bottom, great for low end rhythm metal playing.

No Opinion
Overall, this is an great pickup for bridge position for heavy rhythm playing. Have not tested it in other positions, but I would expect great things. Bareknuckle Pickups are basically the best pickups that money can buy. Other passive alternatives that are close to being comparable, but are probably crappier are: Kent Armstrong Motherbucker, or El Diablo.

Output surprised me - weak. Very weak. I thought this was supposed to be hot???
Peavey 6505 through a Mesa 4x12 standard cab
Tone is midrangey and weak
Rock and metal
Bridge or neck I suppose but basically weak for most anything. Sound isn't bad, just weak as hell. I have an ESP les paul with an EMG 85 in the bridge and can run my amps pre-gain on 2. With the Washburn and Warpig I have to crank the pre to 4 before approaching a similar amount of output. Feels like I have to fight to get harmonics, sustain, overall output. I should note that this was installed by a professional, experienced luthier, so it's not a bad installation on my part or anything.

I wouldn't get this pup again, and in fact will probably replace it with something else anyway. I don't mind the sound, but it's just too weak and lifeless to me.

With 21.5 ohms of resistance, the Warpig bridge passive humbucker is one of the hottest pickups in the world. Not THE hottest, but one of the hottest.
Instrument
:
Mine is installed in the bridge of a 1990's Charvel Journeyman. It replaces the Seymour-Duncan TB-4 that came stock. There are no other pickups on this guitar. I changed it because I wanted to hear a super hot-rodded pickup on my favorite shred monster.
Sound

The output level is extreme. It makes a Marshall JCM800 squeal with harmonics. I use it straight into the amp with no pedals or effects.
The clean tone is clear and transparent. Very well-balanced and sweet.
Played distorted, this eats Duncans for breakfast. I play rock, hard rock and blues and this is great for all those styles of music. I also like it for jazz. It is very versatile.
I write an online column on guitar pickups for an amplifier manufacturer. Recently, I wrote a comparison article pitting my Charvel/Warpig combination against a friends Gibson Les Paul Custom with Seymour Duncan Blackouts; one of the hottest active pickups around. The Duncans shook the ground a little more, but mine maintained much greater clarity and individual note definition. It shakes the ground, too; just not quite as much as the Blackouts. At the end of the test, I liked the Warpig better and my friend liked his Blackouts. So we both won!

I would replace it if it were lost or stolen. I would consider putting a pair of these in my Les Paul, too. I've been playing about 25 years. I love the fact that this pickup is good for metal to jazz and all stops in between. I wish it weren't quite so expensive, but at the same time, feel that it's worth every penny.
Great all-around screamer!

i put this pickup in a washburn n4 paduak in the bridge position YYYYYEEEEEESSSSSSS.
this was to replace the thin tinny sounding bill lawrence XL500.
i wanted a nice big fat sound from the N4. the guitar plays so well and looks immense, but it needed beefing up.
Sound

this pickup is abseloutly insane. im sure we all know that the N4 is a thin sounding guitar. but i think plays like a dream and looks pretty mean too and didn't want to get rid of it. so. i thaught i would get a new bridge pickup for it. rang a few places and was aedvised to go to bare knuckle pickups. so the name of the company was enough to get me interested. i rang up and spoke to tim, who by the way, is the nicest guy you will speak to. awesome customer service and general support. anyway, he advised the warpig humbucker with alnico 5 magnet. he said it would beef up the N4 more than enough. and he was so right. its bass responce is so big and it sings for leads. immense sounding pickup honestly.

peace!

Really good. I play metal/rock with this thing (Lamb of God, black label society, etc) and was looking for a 'riffing' guitar and it's just spot on.
Superb clarity for the mids and highs and the lows just chug! Play something like a power chord with added 9th and its like nothing else.
Should also add that if you roll the tone down a bit it does clean really well also.
Mine goes through either a 15watt line 6 spiderIII or a Laney TF100 via a Korg AX1500G and sounds great through both.

If it was destroyed/stolen I'd get another one straight away. Either that or try the nailbomb, but it'd deffinatly be a Bare Knuckle again. They are a little pricey but you pay for what you get.
The distressed nickel finish looks great but it is wearing slightly at the corner where my little finger rests but then that just adds to the look in my opinion.
I also have a Jackson DKMGT with a 81 and a 85 in it. In comparison, the emg's have high treble and more 'clinical' and the Warpig sounds much more 'organic'. Wouldn't say one is better than the other, just different styles.
Also would like to thank Till Mills at BKP for replying to my emails and recommending the Warpig

the output is very well balanced and very responsive to how you hit your strings. i'm playing through a Line6 Flextone II HD through a MESA 4x12 with vintage 30's. Reminds me of alot of popular active pick ups (EMG's 81, 85, ect) but with way more warmth. Very milky espesially on the neck pick up. The cleans are superb and glissen very well. I play rock music (www.myspace.com/morganswill recordings on our page were used with the Warpig equipt Ibanez and another Ibanez with an EMG 81 mixed in as well). Both pick ups wro great rolling you volume back and using the neck pick up on an already distored tone give you a real nice almost start like tone (yes out of a humbucking pick up!). The bridge pick up just ripps, very responsive and punchy with a great warm over tone.

i'd equip all my guitars with these things if i had more $$$$.
I've been playing guitar for more then a decade. Love the way these things look, the distressed covers match the old finish on my guitar pefectly. They sound as cool as they look. I used to be an EMG man but i'd happily switch over to these thingsa anyday. Due to regular gigging and sweat drenched hands the distress cover is starting to fade away revealing the regualr metal finish of the pick ups but w/e wear and tare.

Passive Humbucker... DC Resistance of 21.6k for my particular pickup (they all vary since they are hand wound). Very hot for a passive pickup!
Instrument
:
Put it in my Gibson SG-X (which only has a bridge pickup). Replaced the stock Gibson 500T ceramic pickup which I was excited about until I heard it. 500T had no character and basically sounded bad in my opinion. Don't know of any well-known artists using the Warpig yet.

High output, but surprisingly not out of control.... just BADASS!! Plug into a Rivera Knucklehead Tre (killer metal amp head) and have a Mesa Boogie cab. Play in a hardcore metal band and this pickup suits it perfectly, but amazingly it cleans up nicely too... I really don't get it. My SG now breathes fire!!! Been playing a Les Paul with a Duncan Distortion in the bridge position and I thought that sounded good before... very happy that I can use the SG now since its so much lighter, (but sounds heavier now). I tune to drop C and this pickup definitely suits that tuning. Really picks up the lower frequencies nicely. Lots of character... I think it would sound good for many other styles of music, but it works great for metal, that's for sure!

Been playing for almost 20 years and had lots of different gear. I have been on a quest to find a pickup that will make my SG usable..... difficult because you don't know how it will sound until you install it in YOUR instrument and play through YOUR rig. I don't think you can go wrong with the Bare Knuckle products, though. My luthier friend turned my onto them and I can't thank him enough. Screw Seymour.... I'm a Bare Knuckle man for life now! It has such a unique, organic sound. Almost like it is alive and breathing. Not at all sterile like an EMG, but just as much balls if not more!! Besides.... this thing looks so damn badass, too. My SG is army green ,black pickguard (the one humbucker model) and it looks like that pickup was meant to be a part of it... like its an instrument of war. Just awesome!!!! Definitely worth the extra loot!! I was lucky that a store near me had one.... not easy to find these in the states.
