Features
:
Pickup features: Humbucking Passive Blade style pole pieces
Impedence or other specs:
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: Peavey Mantis
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: Peavey 12 Pole high output (Borrowed for other guitar)
Other pickups on guitar: none
Artists using this pickup: I hear Pantera uses a slightly different version of this one
You musical style(s): Hard rock / Metal
Reason for pickup change: I had a pickup go bad in my main guitar and had taken the
original pickup out of this to make that guitar operational.
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: Hot, but not sreaming
Tone: Has enough bass, a bit muddy, but it fills the need. (Hey it's my back-up guitar!)
Sonic evaluation: DOD Tec - 4 effect processor. Fender Super 6 head (tube).
2x12 homemade cabinet. My stuff is about as peiced together as it
gets. The Peavey is a star body made of an unknown hard wood with a
maple neck and a vintage strat type tremlo.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Pretty hard core, but not Sepletura or Caniable Corpse
Overall Rating
:
8
Comments: I found this thing in a box of used pickups at Flores Music. They had
a new one for around $85 so I can't complain. It has a decent sound for
what I do. This is my back-up axe so I don't get too picky about it.
It does better when you are up on the higher notes doing a searing lead
rather than moshing around on a Anthrax style rythem. I have not had it
that long so I'm sure I'll be able to tweak it some more.
