Features
:
Single coil tele neck PU, passive with Alnico pole pieces. I'm assuming it's "stacked, it's a taller PU than a standard tele neck. Imedence is about 6.2k.
Instrument
:
I've got it installed into an ESP Custom, where the previous owner had a very fine Tele neck PU placed in it. I've also got a Bill Lawrence l-510 in the bridge. I swapped it out to match up the volume of the BL L-510 better (a PU with some serious presence).
I am unsure of the actual vintage of this PU and wether this really came from Bill in the 80's or from the "other" Bill Lawrence company. I will have to say though, no matter what, it's a pretty solid pickup. I bought it as "NOS" from a dealer on eBay whom I've bought all sorts of very much vintage Bill Lawrence PUs and he did state that this is from the same era.
Sound
:
No Opinion
Output is certainly louder than a standard tele neck and gets to be pretty full bodied for a single coil.
Very clean tone overall and takes to overdriving it just fine.
I play "white boy Blues" and this PU certainly does the trick, matching well with the L-510 in the bridge. Some vol drop off when the PUs are singled out, but blend really nicely when together.
The L-510 is a very LOUD PU.
Overall Rating
:
7
I just might get this again... or just order from Bill himself for either a L-290 sized for the neck Tele.
This is a good PU, but I am looking for a better match to the L-510 that I've got. I'll stick with it for now, but probably do a swap on it later this summer.
