Features :
Single coil vintage tele: neck polepieces. If you're confused and don't want to get into the history of companies under BL - this is Bill Lawrence USA. The current version of the 'original' ones made in Germany in the 70s and said to be used by Roy Buchanan. Got this through AAMPS in California.

Instrument :
Replaced Texas Specials in 2006 Fender Japan 52 reissue.

Sound : 10
Pickup comparision between this and my other teles played through Silverface Princeton on 7, no effects.

Texas Specials: okay, but thin twang and bridge a bit harsh at volume.
dump these.

DiMarzaio VV Tele: much better output, clear, accurate, good approximation of classic sound, classic jangle and twang.

Frailin Vintage Broadcaster: louder, darker, at breakup levels best at classic rock and blues sounds.

Lawrence T1/T2 set: better output than Fender and DiMarzio, rich midranges and 'ghost' overtones when volume pushed, great classic country and rock jangle and twang, less powerful and more rockabilly than Fralin, but more musical, richer than all.

One guitar to gig with? If you're a rocker, go Fralin, no question. Nothing like them at volume. But if you want beautiful, classic tele country/blues tone, overall ratings: Go with the Lawrence T1/T2, incredibly versatile and the most 'musical'.

Overall Rating : 10
Tempted to put T1/T2 on the lot, amazing pickups - but the Frailins and DiMarzios do something different altogether. No opinions on which of the Bill Lawrence Companies or vintages or pickups is most authentic. But these T1/T2 pickups are very well priced (about 45$ each). The sound classic in a way that a lot of the newer, later tech pickups don't - rich, musical, unexpected overtones and harmonics. Character, twang, jangle, pop, howl. Whatever it's vintage or maker, they'll make your tele a real instrument, and not an assembly of stuff.
