Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: PRS SE singlecut
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: Harmonic Design VP-90
Other pickups on guitar:
Artists using this pickup: me
You musical style(s): Blues/ Classic rock
Reason for pickup change: I just wanted to try something different. Mick was willing to do whatever it took to make me happy, so I decided to give him a go.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Output level is VERY difficult to define. About the same as the Harmonic designs, which is less than the stock pickups
Tone: Balanced. Not too bassy or trebly, but with a smooth P-90 midrange
Sonic evaluation: Through a Fender superchamp they do the business for me. Honestly I thought Mick would be pushing it uphill to compete with the Harmonic Designs. I mean they're legendary, and with good reason. However these pickups sent the H.D's to ebay. They're smooth and distort beautifully. They dont inhabit THE EDGE. Most pickups I play are just too edgy and harsh. I'm forever trying to dial in a sound that is MUSICAL. No worries with these: sweet sweet sweet, which was exactly what I asked for. Once upon a time I owned a 1969 SG. The pickups in it sounded like finely powdered glass mixed with honey. I regret selling that one. These pickups have the same mojo happening. Great product, Outstanding service, well priced, and not too noisy either. The obligatory 60 cycle hum is there, but at a reasonable level. No big deal.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play bluesrock, but have no doubt that Mick could wind you a pickup that would make you happy regardless of what you play

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: If it were destroyed or stolen I'd give Mick a call. Easy. Been playing 36 years, so I either know what I'm on about or have alzheimers.
I think that this pickup has made this guitar what it should be. I can see myself sending some overpriced and overhyped aftermarket pickups to ebay in the future and giving Mick a call.
