Features
:
Single coil passive Telecaster bridge pickup
- plain enameled wire
- Alnico V magnets
- fibre bobbins
- copper plated steel bridge plate
- waxed cotton lead out wire
Instrument
:
installed in bridge position of Fender US Standard Telecaster replacing the stock pickup - neck pickup remains the stock pickup although this will either be wax potted by Bulldog to eliminate current occasional squeal or replaced with another Bulldog pickup. Changed pickup because I found the stock pickup didn't give me the signature Telecaster sound I'd become accustomed to hearing - v. dissappointing considering the price of the instrument. This pickup has turned it all around!

The output level is just where I like it - a tiny bit higher in all the right places - creating a perfect balanced tone. It's being used with a Fender Deville combo with the stock Eminence spkrs replaced with Celestion G12K-100's (Hot 100's) - this set-up rocks!! The Hot 100's take any beating you'd care to give them from the 60W output of the Deville (even fully cranked no problem!)and the Bulldog Classic T gives a balanced starting tone to either the clean or drive channels which allows to to 'fine tune' rather than 'compensate for' - the best part is that it's a true single coil pickup that doesn't squeal anywhere like a stock pickup but does give you that natural overdriven feedback when you want it whilst retaining a true Tele sound

I will probably continue to use Bulldog pickups as despite writing to Chris Kinman on at least 2 occasions regarding a complete Tele harness for the above instrument - I got no reply. I spoke to Hayden at Bulldog about my Tele and he wound me a pickup to my exact specs for a phenomenal price considering the quality and workmanship - and delivered it within 10 days. This may not always be the possible timeframe (I don't want to commit him to something I'm not sure about!) but the quality would be worth the wait. I've been playing Strats and Teles for 32 yrs now - owned the occasional Gibson, BC Rich, Gordon-Smith (the only guitars in this category that I miss) but the utilitarian ethic of the Fender design and durability of these instruments just make plain sense to me. Regarding other brands of pickups - I've got Kinmans on a US Strat (the set with a hotter bridge pickup and vintage middle and neck) and it works quite well though I'm not happy about the lack of communication from Mr Kinman so who knows - maybe we'll see what Hayden's got up his sleeve with regard to Strats - He certainly knows what makes a difference between one pickup and another and what pots and caps to use etc... Also am looking forward to hearing his PAF style humbuckers as I have previously been a fan on the Seymour Duncan 59er for this purpose - the point is he has a good idea of what questions to ask and if you have a reasonable ability to communicate what you want chances are very likely that you will be very satisfied.
