Features
:
These are a set of humbucker size P90's.They are true P90 bobbins in a humbucker size case.
The bridge is a little over vintage spec at 10500 turns, the neck is wound to balance.
Instrument
:
These are installed in both positions in my Gibson Les Paul Custom.
This guitar was my 1st ever Gibson, I bought it new in 1990, but I've never been happy with the sound, either with the stock humbuckers or the Kent Armstrong HBP90's I had in it.
I'm a P90 addict, I play them exclusively, but the KA's never sounded right. So, after playing some Bulldogs at the Matamp factory and being well impressed with them, I ordered a set for my les paul.

Output level is a bit more than a standard vintage style p90.
I play Matamp amplifiers exclusively, a GTL, King Street Major and a Minimat.
The bridge pickup is crunchy, nice raunch to it but not too bright.Nice, full raunchy sound with plenty of punch and detail.Very dynamic too.Nice balance between fat and crunchy.Works well with the tone pot on the guitar too.
The neck pickup sounds huge.Really smokey and thick, creamy warm fat tones just flow out of it.But, its balanced just right.Full enough for those thick creamy lead lines and has enough definition for rythmn playing too.
The middle position is great too.A sound I don't normally like or use.
I play heavy sludgy rock, I think P90's are great for this, and of course they sound awesome through my Matamps. These pickups make for a really versatile setup and they sound absolutely out of this world.

I've been playing for 20+ years and I'm VERY fussy about gear.I've played lollar, gibson, seymour duncan, and kent armstrong P90's and these Bulldogs wipe the floor with all of them. They have just the right balance between full and rich fat tones and raunchy cut.My other favourite P90 is the Rio Grande in my Hamer Korina Jr, with this and the Bulldogs I've got a great sounding setup that can play just about anything.
I've alsways had a love/hate relationship with the Les Paul I put them in.Its just never sounded right for me.Its the 1st qulaity guitar I owned, I've nearly sold it a few times, it was only sentimental value that made me hang onto it.I've owned it since 1990 and this is the 1st time I've enjoyed playing it.These pickups brought out sounds I never thought this guitar had, and gave it a personality all of its own.I used to get it out of its case every 6 months, play it for 3 minutes then put it away again. Now I pick it up, play it for 5 mins, then when I look at my watch I wonder where the last hour went!!
These pickups have transformed this guitar from an ornament to a guitar I just can't put down. For me thats priceless, I never thought I'd get this guitar sounding anywhere near as good as it sounds now. They haven't just improved the tone, they've totally transformed it.
I'm more than satisfied with the tone, it takes a lot to impress me after owning so much gera, but I'm still amazed how fantastic these pickups are.And Bulldog are a great company to deal with, nice personal service, quick turnaround, and they'll bend over backwards to give you what you want.Great value too.
Do yourself a favour, check out www.bulldogpickups.com and order yourself a set. You'll be glad you did.I'm thinking of getting all my guitars Bulldogged!!
