Features :
Pickup features: Single Coil
Impedence or other specs: Not Certain

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: 1983 Squire Stratocaster
Position: middle
Pickup being replaced: Middle
Other pickups on guitar: Cheap Hamer ceramic(neck)/Seymor Duncan Alnico II
Artists using this pickup: Me
You musical style(s): Eclectic (no,not electric)rock and blues
Reason for pickup change: The stock Squires sounded either muddy or bright and nasty. They really needed to go.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Fair output, not hot but higher output than "vintage". Not easy, but not impossible for feedback.
Tone: Well balanced midrange twanger, Bass:5 Mid:7 Treb:5
Sonic evaluation: I am currently using a Crate GMX-30 running through a truck cab loaded with two Korean made Eminence copies (which are Knock offs of celestions). Cab is wired with one speaker out of phaze. for a full sound.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: This PU is great for blues and Classic rock, get's a great "Cars" Tone. Does poorly for High gain, Fair for Grunge.

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: I definately by another one, but with hum cancelling(I'm using a bridge one right now). I've been playing for three years and my sense of tone is always expanding, but I know what I like. I love the fact that is has the most midrange of any strat replacement with such a low output. Most other pickups I found with this much mids were Tele replacements and they wouldn't fit. I really only tryed a few other carvins and duncans but this suited my "clean" twang style best. I am really happy with this Pickup but I need to get hum cancelling because it conflicts with the ceramic magnet in the neck. I play most of my leads with this pickup and it gives me that quacky warm twang best suited for blues. LOVE IT!!! I also would like to sugest to any other blues players out there that a high output ceramic magnet set Really really low in pickguard can give you a real smooth SRV tone. Try it you might like it and cheap ceramics are a dime a dozen.

Features :
Pickup features: Passive single coil set with reverse wound middle pickup for noise cancellation when used in combination.
Impedence or other specs: N/A

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Squier Affinity Strat
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: All stock pickups
Other pickups on guitar: N/A
Artists using this pickup: Joe Taino (of Joe Taino & The Blue Flames), a N.Y. based bluesman
You musical style(s): Pop, country/blues based rock, rock'n'roll
Reason for pickup change: Squier pickups are almost disposable....that's where they cut corners to offer you a great price.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Output is slightly higher than stock with higher fidelity.
Tone: Tone is very balanced and ballsy, with good note definition clean or distorted.
Sonic evaluation: Through a Korg G3 effects pedalboard and Crybaby Wah into a '59 tweed Twin repro, the sound is defined, yet ballsy and thick. Controlled feedback for musical effect is very easy to obtain. Sound is very musical courtesy of Alnico V blade type magnets. They're totally non-microphonic because the bobbins are encapsulated in epoxy; pretty indestructible!

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: For the styles I play, these are perfect. As I said before, I play vintage rock'n'roll, pop, and blues/country based rock.

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: I'd buy these again if lost or stolen. I've been playing for 20 years and know a little bit about tone, but I bought these after Joe Taino, a pro working Strat man for over 25 years, told me these are the best Strat replacements he's used. He should know......
