Model of guitar or bass: Rogue/Ibanez Metal/blues guitar

Other pickups on guitar: Stock in the middle and a no name chrome humbuck in the bridge
Artists using this pickup: Probably many
You musical style(s): MANY STYLES ACCEPT FLAMINGO AND SLIDE
Reason for pickup change: Stock pickups sounded almost exactly the same. I could switch pickups and on many amps there was no difference in sound whatsoever!
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: A moderate output volume....say a medium
Tone: Decently balanced but in a good way. A full bodied sound for a strat with a sound thats best described as bass/mid/treble. The sound for bas is singular for the bass strings, singular to the mid strings exc. DEFINITELY BEST IN THE BRIDGE POSITION
Sonic evaluation: I own a decent variety of equipment. Crate head with Behringer 4x12 cab, custom built oversized 4x12 cab with Carvin speakers and open or closed back operation. 50 watt thru a 12 practice amp. Arion Tubulater, Zoom 505 and a Danelectro Fab TOne are my primarily used pedals. I often play straight into my Crate head though.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play primarily metal, all variations of rock , blues and jazz but really a bit of everything. This pickup with the simple steel plate mod is suitable for all positions. I could tell Start guys I paid $150 for and once they heard it they'd believe me!

Comments: A grat sounding pickup but totally designed for the bridge position. It keeps the brightness of the basss and treble while balancing them with the mids. Not common in typical pickups used in strats. It blended the bass/mid/treble very well giving a fuller sound basically. I no longer use it in my strat but when I did it gave a much more versatile sound from the bridge position while still maintaning the strats true nature of tone. Not as well as the stock pickups but like I said more USEFUL(less twang). Again it seems Carvin pickups give a very smooth sound reguardless of what range of sound(s) they are producing. I was very satisfied with this pickup but it's not quite my style. If I needed a bridge postition single coil for any other guitar than a Strat I would definitely use it, or if I had as many strats as I wish I did, it would absolutely go in one for a different range of Srat sound. It makes them very unique in comparison to the sound most people want out of them. Again, more useful or versatile I might also say for a larger variety of music and playing styles. Overall it easily deserves and 8, but is actually quite worthy of a 10 but as of now I just don't have much use for it. If it were stolen or destroyed I wouldn't be happy but could wait to replace it when I had a STRAT for it. So yes I'd buy it again someday.
