Features
:
Pickup features: passive single coils
Impedence or other specs: no idea
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: 1962 Silvertone amp-in-a-case
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: none (bought it w/out PUs)
Other pickups on guitar: both neck & bridge are these
Artists using this pickup: ? - MAYBE Rick Miller (SCOTS)
You musical style(s): with this guitar, just surf and biker-fuzz
Reason for pickup change: Wanted the classic Dano look (yes *gasp* I bought them
for looks), but was greatly surprised with the outstanding
sound.
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: less than tele neck PU (EXTREMELY low output)
Tone: ALL treble, no bass and a teenie tiny bit of mid. the perfect "crisp" sound (w/ .012s)
Sonic evaluation: These pickups have been made to fit a Strat but I doubt anyone would
like them in one. Very glassy pickups that aren't noisy at all (due
to lipstick covers); however, they aren't too brittle when distorted
like other single coils.
Just put a bit of Germanium fuzz, crank the reverb and go!
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: This pickup is unsuitable for most playing styles, except maybe '80s Strat blues.
Overall Rating
:
10
Comments: Again, for surf, nothing but. Everything else, however, I'm tended to
like HBs more.
I would buy them again, because I heard they sound better than the
original Dano PUs.
