:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: runs damn hot. i had a 80s lp studio and sold it when i got my sivertone put together. these pickups are great. naturally dirty and overdriven. true riff rock tone
Tone: gravel mid range. i heve mine in a hollow body so that helps with the sustain which i think these could lack
Sonic evaluation: ive been playing through a 73 musicman 212 and a newis ampeg jII. it has a great rock and role tone through the smaller ampeg, and a really crisp low-mid tone through the 212. the highs get a bit muddy

Overall Rating

Comments: get these if you can find them. there well worth the low price and becoming rare quickly

Artists using this pickup: Van Gough
You musical style(s): Blues, bluesrock
Reason for pickup change: There IS no reason to ever change these pickups on a guitar!
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: medium but it totally depends on how closely positioned to the strings
Tone: Bassy and trebly with scooped mids fairly articulate unless too close to strings and they mud out some
Sonic evaluation: These are on 3 of my guitars- a 1963 Silvertone Switch Master, 1960 Silvertone Stratotone 2 p/up and a 1960 Harmony Stratotone single p/up. Play through a 1970 Princeton. They are cool! can do alot of things with them yet they retain there own character too. They have been maligned due to the cheesey guitars they are on (you know, like D'Angelico). The bean counters would make the production of these cheap guitars so they were not adjustable or not afixed properly to the guitars to save moey and make the price point target. The Switch Masters are the exception. They rock, jazz and blues like any thing out there. No metal. Actually just put ten stomp boxe and a a Marshall stack ala Nugent and do that too.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Blues and blues rock. see above

Comments: I bid on these on ebay whenI see them.. They are all gone now and will though they made millions of them they are being sought after now... no know stealing of them off guitars has been reported to date...
I have hacked for 30 years, electric for 2 years. I am a back yard jammer. Own a Warmoth Tele, Jap LP and a Seagull S6.
These are a great secret affordable pickup. They have "That sound" or atleast one of the 100's of sounds I am seeking. A must have.
