Features :
Pickup features: The Fat-O-Caster is a three position rotary switch that expands the potential pickup combinations availablr in your Stratocaster tm. or othe "S-type" electric guitar. It works in conjunction with your 5 way switch to give 5 new combinations. It installs (I did it myself in under an hour) where one of the original tone controls is/was. You lose a tone control but get twice as many tones!
Impedence or other specs: This is a passive, ready-to-install rotary switch, which accepts the stock guitar knob, giving a completely stock look.

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: 1998 American Standard Delta Tone Statocaster tm.
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: I left the stock pickups on this guitar and do not endorse or recommend Fender tm. products. I am now building my own "S-type" guitars due to a lack or product information & support. I have the support of an independent pickup manufacturer.
Other pickups on guitar: This guitar is just one extra that I've had, and was selected in the first place over many others of the same brand, for it's potential, which I enhanced afterward.
Artists using this pickup: Who knows?
You musical style(s): 60's, 70's Rock, & Blues --- extra LOUD with maximum effort & expression
Reason for pickup change: 5 sounds were boring. Also, the 5 available sounds do not begin to address my needs. They are not adequate in an "S-type" guitar for a wide variety of styles. I couldn't replicate the sounds of "classics". I guess many of the original artists' guitars and effects are "doctored". I can't get the sounds I need in ANY music store.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Versatile. I have all the choice that the music demands. I can use one guitar for everything, and don't actually need my humbucker and high end models. I have sound lab equipment at home, and can verify that the Fat-O-Caster tones are similar to guitars that are non-Strat, and are well known & used for their volume & sustain.
Tone: I've gained volume & sustain with added pickup combinations producing sounds indistiguishable from my own other brand name guitars, which are specialized & expensive.
Sonic evaluation: I prefer, and use a Stratocaster tm. style of guitar with Fender tm. tube amps for practice, but I buy my own & use Peavey transtubes tm. to show & perform with. Gibson Les Paul, SG, Paul Reed Smith and Ibanez are my main side-axes. All tm. and fine guitars, I'm sure. But, I am going to use more Fat-O- Caster switches on my many other "S-types", including the FAT ones, with humbuckers.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Great for all styles. If there's an issue, the user must look at the type of pickup(s) they have, plus the pot and capacitor resistance factors.

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: I'll buy more of this product, especially at this price! I will install them on my many other similar guitars.
I've been playing for 33 years, and currently own guitars & equipment from 10 decades of production. I've probably had 50 or more brand names, now about 20 brands --- all functional and in very smooth condition.
I'm absolutely amazed by the Fat-O-Caster switch and it's versatility.
The inventors/manufacturers of the original "S-type" guitar are now offering something similar, but not as versatile or economical as this. For $20, this product enables the user to duplicate or improve upon their production model guitar, some of which may cost up to $2000 in CANADA where I am based.
