Tone: very balanced, but has more bass. perfect for blues
Sonic evaluation: im using a crappy ibanez guitar and an amp hooked up to my stereo.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: i play mostly metal. this humbucker sounds best with a tube screamer, but plays metal pretty well, too
Overall Rating

Comments: i like this humbucker a lot, it's a lot more full sounding than the powersound, and doesn't muddy up nearly as much. when i use heavy distortion, there is no hum. this was not true with the powersound.

Perceived output level: Less than average for a humbucker- Fairly low output that lets it clean up nicely
Tone: balanced, sounds "hollow" or "airy"
Sonic evaluation: I use the Les Paul through several old Marshalls. I like a bright tone. This pickup isn't as warm as a Duncan Alnico II Pro, but it's MUCH less muddy and overall better. It seems very balanced, fairly sweet sounding, but not boring sweet. The best thing about it is its clarity- big chords sound clean even through considerable distortion. I really like the hollow sound of it- it's kinda like a PAF without the muddiness and with more response to your fingers. It's really sensitive to pick attack, which I love. Another good thing is when you back off the volume on the guitar it doesn't start sounding funny, it gets a little less responsive and a little sweeter. It also is cool with a clean tone, being very crisp and not too midrangy or anything. Just a cool pickup that doesn't sound weird like other Dimarzios.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I use it in the neck and bridge. They sound good together. The bridge is hotter. They are EXTREMELY versitile pickups, sounding good with distortion or clean. I'd say they're good for anything unless you need a really punchy tone or some kind of distortion class humbucker.

Comments: Not perfect, but a really good sound. It's my fav humbucker I've ever tried, and this is compared to several Duncans and Rio Grandes. I love the pick attack and the pickup's versatility, but sometimes I wish it were a little higher output like the PAF Pro. I highly recommend this one. It's very good all-around. Whatever you do, just don't get the Tone Zone. It sucks.

Pickup features: Humbucker
Impedence or other specs: 226MV - 8.80k
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: Fender American Standard
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: Nothing
Other pickups on guitar: Virtual Vintage Solo
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): Hard Rock, Neo Classic (speed picked arppegios)
Reason for pickup change: Installed it in order to have a PAF tone without the high output and the jagedy(broken glass like sound)on the highs, and so it would balance better with my VVSolo on the neck.
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: A tad hotter than standard PAF, or I'd say not hot enough
Tone: 5T,7M,7B and very balanced, not muddy at all, lacks crunch.
Sonic evaluation: I use this through my strat into Marshall 2000 TSL and this is what I think on the over driven channel.
-The bottom end is weak.
-Great for speed picking and the notes are bright but very tight and alot of low end.
-Sort of wimpy but I expected that cause Its not a hot pickup.
-Harmonics are very lame.
-Not good for power chords kind of stuff.
-starving for gain.
-Not that warm.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Every thing exept for metal

Comments: If this pickup had more crunch and bottom end with the same high end tightness, It will be great. I diffentaly recomend it for Hard Tailed guitars to get mor bottom end. A bout the harmonics well..if your don't pul them out of the guitar for some whammy bar tricks like Satrinai and vai, you will get by.
