I installed two of these in neck & middle positions on my Fender custom stratocaster. I have the slightly hotter DiMarzio Area 61 in the bridge. I replaced a set of Kinman woodstock noiseless single coils. I have been searching for a perfect vintage...but slightly hotter strat pickup! My search is over!

The output is just a smidge hotter than stock single coils. My only gripe is that the open low E hasn't got enough twang! But that may be due to other factors. ie: wood, nut, bridge, amp? It's not a major concern for me, and can be fixed by eqing the amp.
I play in a Jimi trib. and these pickups work well, across the board you can find those gorgeous vintage start tones we all love. Clean..they are articulate with a great deal of sustain. (I have mine set close to the strings, no string warble!) Crunched up they excell, dig in and they soar, play soft or turn down the guitar volume and they respond better than any pickup iv'e tried!ie: Most of the Fender Custom shop range, all of the Kinman range apart from the Hank Marvins!!! Fralin woodstock's & blues etc. These pickups were recommended for neck & middle, i have'nt tried them at the bridge.

Iv'e been playing nearly 30 years and have come to trust my hearing (whats left of it)not hype. We all have different ideas about tone, thank God! But I would recommend these to anyone who wants vintage strat tone, and with the Area 61 at the bridge no icepick top end...Oh! yeah! I forgot...they are totally noiseless. But for me thats just a bonus! I use various pedals (don't wanna bore you) into two Marshall jtm 45 re issue heads. One goes into a Marshall 4x 12" greenbacks. the other into a custom open backed 2 x 12" cab vintage 30's. Installing these pups was easy. but the instructions that came with them were for DiMarzio virtual vintage!! and the wiring is a different colour. The wires are also very very thin, so care has to be taken if you are a novice at pup replacement. Also mine came with fixing screws but no springs!!! I am deducting marks for this. But i'm so happy with the sound I have, i'll let it pass.
