Features
:
Mini-humbucker (soapbar)
Outpur 400mV, Impedance 17kO, passive.
Paid Au$174 for it (daylight robbery, as everythng else in Australia)
Instrument
:
Installed in bridge position of Gibson LP DC Faded, in place of original P-90. On the neck still have the P-90. Frankly, I have been looking for a passive pickup for years to reproduce Gilmour's Comfortably Numb and What Do You Want From Me solo, without having to pay $1000 for a EMG.
Sound
:

Output is powerful.
Clean sound is slightly distorted, which is to be expected from a high-output humbucker.
The amps used are Crates, Rolands and Carvins, all solid state.
Main effect is Boss GT-8.
The tone is different with the different amps, but only the mid-range needs to be played with, to get a uniform sound from all amps. The GT-8 largely solves the problem, though.
The tone is good, punchy bass (sounds great downtuned too), good treble, could do with a little more midrange, but nothing to write home about. Sounds pretty even in all ranges if the amp is set well.
I play Classic Rock, NWBHM and Metal, and have no complaints. For mostly clean parts I still use the neck P-90 though.

If I go look for something else, it will not be befause I don't like this one, but just out of curiosity to "try 'em all!". I probably would uy this one again for one of my other guitars if this got stolen or lost.
I have played for 30 years. My main guitars are Ibanez Roadstar 1984 (Steve Vai DiMarzios), Ibanez Les Paul 1972 (Al Di Meola Dimarzios), Fender Highway 1 2006 (stock H-S-S), Fender Telecaster 2005 (DiMarzio Fast Track)), Fender Am Strat 1991 (Seymour Duncan Hot Rails), Gibson LP DC 2006 (P-90 + DiMarzio DLX Plus), Epiphone LP 2006 (stock pickups), Squier Strat (stock S-S-S).
I like the DLX Plus - you can fit a full-power humbucker into a P-90 slot and get anything you would normally get from a full size Steve Vai.
I wish ALL my humbuckers had a single-humbucking switch ON THE PICKUP!
I am quite happy with this one. It is my main guitar on my Pink Floyd numbers, and I use it more and more for the other stuff as well.
