Features
:
these are three single coil active pickups complete with pickguard and bcu and exp effects built in. just like the emg dg20 pretty much

I installed this in a black sx strat copy with maple neck. I liked the sx strat so much I bought a second one to experiment with because I did not want to change a thing on my first one. sounded great out of the box. this second one did too. other than the fact I had to do a fret level and complete setup. but, thats o.k. it was only $100. I wanted it to be different so I bought the dg20 copy pickup/pickguard set up by dragonfire off of ebay.

I have had about a dozen different pickups in my humbucker guitars over the years but, the only ones I can closely compare these to are the active emg 81/85 set I owned at one time. and the only similarity are the fact that they are active pickups as are these dragonfires. however, unlike the emg 81/85 these active singles kick ***. they sound so good I can not believe it. the emg 81/85 were quiet and perfect sounding but, just seemed musically dead for lack of a better word. maybe its a lack of dynamics, I don't know but, the dragonfire dg20 setup does not suffer from any of these problems. it is so organic sounding its unreal. with a univibe or an original phase 90 it can sound like robin trower/frank marino. I kid you not. now if I could only play like them I would have it made. if nothing else these pickups inspire me to play better and be able to get in the groove much better because they sound so good!

been playing over 30 years and these are the first pickups, or maybe I should say, first brand of pickups I have been really impressed with because I bought a dragonfire distortion humbucker for my les paul and it kicks *** as well.I am playing thru a digitech gsp 1101 into a mesa 50/50 into 2 4x12 cabs in stereo plus lexicon and eventide and tc electronics in the middle with about a dozen guitars to choose from. DO NOT spend a fortune for name brand guitars. I did and this cheapo sx with these pickups is one of my favorites. its a little harder to play than my les paul or my sg's but, the TONE!!! these pickups do heavy metal great too. clean is nice as well. can't really find fault with them just a really cool sound to them that none of my other guitars can do.
