Features :
Pickup features: humbucking-active as hell
Impedence or other specs: hell if I know

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: ESP LTD H-307
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: stock h-707's
Other pickups on guitar:
Artists using this pickup: the same ones mentioned in all the other reviews
You musical style(s): black/thrash metal mixture
Reason for pickup change: wanted more gain and more tone

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: enough output that you don't need to get anywhere near 10 on the gain control (I now keep my 5150II head on 6 and a half)
Tone: fuckin perfect if you ask me. i love how balanced the tone is. nothing is louder than anything else and everything is in its proper place.
Sonic evaluation: 5150II half stack with monster cables. i like to keep shit fairly simple.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: since I play metal, this was the perfect pickup array I could have ever asked for. and its percievable that you could use this pickup for all styles b/c of the tone balance and how clean it will stay in a mix

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: if the guitar(let alone the pickups)was stolen. i would definately get this set up again. but, only after finding who did it and castrating them with a rusted saw blade. i compared these pickups to every other possible pickup and it was undeniable that these are the shit. after palying for 9 years and trying pretty much everything on the market, the only other pickups i would remotly rank as good as these would be the DiMarzio Blaze Customs.

Impedence or other specs:

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Jackson custom neck thru 7 string warrior
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: Most 7 string pickups.
Other pickups on guitar: None.
Artists using this pickup: Chimera
You musical style(s): Progressive-Thrash-Death-Bard-Classical/Melodical-Techno-
Reason for pickup change: For all of you 7 string pickup owners needing a change this is it. Unless a pure custom built active pickup is in your budget.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Output is at or around the highly proclaimed EMG81 and higher than EMG85
Tone: EMG signature active sound high output with some scooped mids super bass&highs
Sonic evaluation: Soldano HR50XXL-Mesaboogie triple rectifier-VHT pittbull- The more preamp tubes the better Also three words-RECTIFIED-RECTIFIED-RECTIFIED
Also all I have is a single volume as far as controls on my guitar. I also have a pod pro with a power amp to a 4x12 marshall 1960b cab for solid state. I own Yamaha Keyboards ,Conklin 7Bass, Birch drums.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play any Distorted style and have done so for over 12 years. Great match .

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: I would have insurance replace everything. And then I would get my original stuff back. I have worked my tail off to pay for this stuff. I love the expression you can get from an active pickup its in your fingers you can feel the sound, and that comes through in the reaction of listeners as well. So far it is the Best7pickup available.

Features :
Pickup features: Active Humbucker
Impedence or other specs:

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Custom shop F series ESP
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: It came with the guitar
Other pickups on guitar: N/A
Artists using this pickup: Dino of FF , Chimaira
You musical style(s): Metal
Reason for pickup change: I didnt need to change the pickup it came with the guitar. I have used this pickup before in my other 7 string guitars and its the only pickup i use , because duncans sound like crap and dimarzio isn't that great either and i have used every production pickup on the market.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Its mega hot
Tone: Its got alot of fucking balls , enough crunch to bring any other pickup to its knees
Sonic evaluation: I have loads of amps but i gig with my rack which is a Peavey 5150 , a mod Marshall JCM 800 , Randall Cyclone and a Mesa Triple Rec and a MXR 31 band EQ , and this pickup sounds unreal with all of those amps i also use marshall 1960 cabs with V-30's and Randall Warhead cabs which also have V-30's . Everyone always comes up to me asking me how i get my incredible crunch and sound and i always say its these fucking pickups because they are the best pickups out there.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play METAL and this pickup does an unreal job at it and sounds great when i put it on clean . I can get a unreal clean and jazz tone to a classicle tone. This pickup sounds unreal for any style of music.

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: If it was stolen i would kill the person who stole it and i would buy another one in a second. I have been playing for 10 years and i have played almost every pickup made and every production pickup and this is the best. I love everything about it but the only thing i hate is the price , its fucking expensive but its worth it.

Features :
Pickup features: active humbucker
Impedence or other specs:

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: ltd-m307
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: emg-707hz
Other pickups on guitar: emg-707hz (neck) - now disconnected
Artists using this pickup: dino cazares (fear factory)
You musical style(s): metal, death, black, etc, etc
Reason for pickup change: stock pickups couldn't handle the low b or harmonics, no low end either

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: read the sonic evaluation for the output level
Tone: lots of low end and highs
Sonic evaluation: I actually had to turn down the gain, treble, and bass on my presets because it was too much. I thought my Lawrence XL-500's on my other guitars were hot but these are crazy!
Power chords are nice and thick but you can still hear the string definition.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Metal is what this pickup is made for, I'm sure it would work for other things with a bit of tweaking and eq'ing but metal is the default sound

Overall Rating : 9
Comments: realistically this was the easiest choice for a pickup replacement. The stock pickup is a bit bigger than regular 7-string pickups so another emg was the only pickup that would fit the cavity. I didn't really look out for any other pickups because I've always wanted to see what all the fuss was about with actives and also because I liked the sound of Dino Cazares guitar tracks.
I would definitely buy another one If something happened but they are very pricey.

Features :
Pickup features: 7 string active humbucker
Impedence or other specs: no idea

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: 7 string warlock
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: bc rich bdsm 7 string pickups(stock p/u's)
Other pickups on guitar: bc rich bdsm 7 string pickups
Artists using this pickup: jack owen and pat o'brien from cannibal corpse(main reason i purchased it, i love their guitar tone!!!) dino caverez from fear factory, the guitar players for chimeria and the guitar player from puya
You musical style(s): deathmetal/hardcore hybrid
Reason for pickup change: stock pickups were ok, but were a little week and didnt have the output to support the low b string (the usual case with stock 7 string pickups)

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: a ton better than those stock pickups. absolutely no mud at all and it sounds so bright and crisp!!!
Tone: high output like the 81, its has a smoother, more focused, bassier tone like the 85. suits the massiveness of a 7 string perfectly. and it even sounds really nice when played clean!!!!
Sonic evaluation: bc rich warlock 7 string through a peavey studio chorus 210 amp......thats it!!!!

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: its the perfect pickup for our style of music. our music is kinda intricate with alot of speed and crazy changes. this pickup makes our music sound alot better and brings our guitar tone out of the mud that has plagued it in the past. this is a good pickup for anyone who uses 7 strings

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: i have never heard a 7 string sound so good in my life. all the 7 strings i have ever played(including mine before i had the 707 put in) sounded muddy and dull on the low b string, especially when tryin to hit artificial and natural harmonics, but the 707 eliminates all those problems. i can hit harmonics on every fret with ease now. at first i didnt know what to expect from this pickup because i know that EMGs(especially the 81) can be a little hard to control because they have so much output. i didnt know if that was gonna be the case with the 707. not at all. this is the perfect 7 string p/u. note to the wise......anyone who is tired of that nasty muddy tone that plagues so many 7 string guitars due to crappy stock pickups(and dimarzios) should bite the bullet, suck it up and go with the EMG 707. so what if the pickup cavity has to be enlarged a little to fit it in, it wont matter because the 707 will be the last 7 string pickup you ever buy.

Other pickups on guitar: bc rich 7string bdsm pickup(in the neck)
Artists using this pickup: the guitar palyer for puya, dino from fear factory, the guitar players for chimeria, ect......
You musical style(s): i play in a band that is death metal mixed with hardcore, but i use this guitar for more that just that style
Reason for pickup change: stock pickups were ok, but they just didnt have much beef to them, mostly sludge when it came to that low b string

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: at first i didnt know what to expect from this pickup because i know that EMGs(especially the 81) can be a little hard to control because they have so much output. i didnt know if that was gonna be the case with the 707.
Tone: it does have high output like the 81, its has a smoother, more focused, bassier tone like the 85. and it even sounds really nice when played clean!!!!
Sonic evaluation: i use an opld crappy peavey studio chorus 210 amp, but it deos the job and it sounds pretty good. let me tell you......this pickup rox!!!!! i have never heard a 7 string sound so good in my life. absolutely no mud at all and it sounds so bright and crisp!!! all the 7 strings i have ever played(including mine before i had the 707 put in) sounded muddy and dull on the low b string, especially when tryin to hit artificial and natural harmonics, but the 707 eliminates all those problems. i can hit harmonics an every fret with ease now.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: i use it for my band(which i mentioned above) and it works very nicely. not much you cant do with this pickup, it never loses its clarity and fullness.

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: if this were stolen i would be most upset. i would get another but it would suck because i would never be able to find it for as cheap again. but notheless, i would surely have to buy another, the sound is unmatched. note to the wise......anyone who is tired of that nasty muddy tone that plagues so many 7 string guitars due to crappy stock pickups(and dimarzios) should bite the bullet, suck it up and go with the EMG 707. so what if the pickup cavity has to be enlarged a little to fit it in, it wont matter because the 707 will be the last 7 string pickup you ever buy.

Features :
Pickup features: 7-string active hum
Impedence or other specs: uhh....

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: ESP M307
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: EMG-HZ
Other pickups on guitar: none
Artists using this pickup: Dino Cazares
You musical style(s): slow & heavy rock/metal
Reason for pickup change: EMG-HZ - 'nuff said.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: oh yeah. it's hot. up there with an EMG-81
Tone: pretty balanced, usually really clear, sometimes muddy.
Sonic evaluation: a mahogany-bodied ESP M307 with an ibanez-ripped 7-string piezo floyd, into a DOD death metal, boss metal zone, and a peavey basic 112 bass amp. my first impression: eh...a bit better. two months later i finally realize just how awesome these pups are, and what their limitations are. i use them for everything but the clean stuff. the bridge pickup alone is excellent for rhythm. when three are turned on all at once, the lead tone is nearly as good as an EMG-81's, and the solo tone is no worse. unfortunately, they are not as high-output as the 81, and they lack highs and have too many lows. with a middle or neck 707 on, the E and B strings are muddy. everything else is clean and clear, but i never had this problem with 81's. they're very good for rhythm, excellent for leads, and absolutely wonderful for solos. the sustain is truly excellent, no worse than the 81. even with really high notes using just the bridge PU, nothing is harsh, everything retains a sort of fullness. lots of harmonics. the 707 is NOT the 7-string version of the 81. maybe of the 85, but it lacks the output and high end of the 81. like the 81 (and 85 i imagine), it is not good for anything clean. maybe you could get away with some quiet passages, but try a full chord - not pleasant. definitely not what a 100-dollar pup should give.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: for my styles, it's a near-perfect match. the bridge PU lacked the balls that my current one has (Gibson 490T), but was perfect otherwise.

Overall Rating : 8
Comments: if i had kept my guitar, i would have replaced one of these immediately if something happened. not only are they worth the 100 bucks you pay for one, plus routing in most cases, but you can't really replace them with anything else. i doubt anyone'd want to switch them for EMG-HZ's. minus one point for the high price and routing most people have to do, and minus another for lacking the 81's high end and output, although it's not a far cry.

Features :
Pickup features: Active humbucker
Impedence or other specs: low impedance

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Ibanez RG7621
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: Stock Dimarzio Blaze
Other pickups on guitar:
Artists using this pickup: Dino - Fear Factory, Wes - Limp Bizkit
You musical style(s): Hard Rock
Reason for pickup change: Dissatisfied with original pickups, too muffled sounding, no punchiness.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: slightly hotter than std.
Tone: pretty balanced, maybe slightly scooped.
Sonic evaluation: Ibanez RG7 into Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier. The tone is very crisp, clear amd tight. It sounded like someone had pulled a blanket from off my amp!!! I was getting very discouraged with the original gluggy sound from my gat, there was just no real bite in its tone, not any more, 707s are wicked pickups, well worth the routing required! Clean doesn't break up either as compared to other high output passive pickups.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: hard rock/alternative

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: these are the only things i'd have in my RG7, they do the guitar justice now, original pickups just have no clarity and bite. As far as tone goes, my gat is up there now with PRS Custom 24s, they are both tremendous sounding into my Mesa amp.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Heavy, I hope it will match

Overall Rating : No Opinion
Comments: I think I got a decent deal, seems a little less than average.
I have yet to install it because the guitar requires the PU cavity to be routed slightly due to the EMG having squared corners, and the design of the guitar accomodates rounded edged PUs.
I'll repost if I think its worth the unholy defilement of the guitar (taking wood away from the body) I sure hope it will be

Features :
Pickup features: Active 7-String Pickups
Impedence or other specs: dunno

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: ESP M-307
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: EMG-HZ POS
Other pickups on guitar: EMG HZ-707 (Neck)
Artists using this pickup: Dino Cazares
You musical style(s): Metal
Reason for pickup change: Passive EMG HZ-707s are the worst stock pickups ive ever heard. I heard good things about the 707, plus HZ-707 are extra wide, and the only pickup that you could replace it with, without having to do modifications is the EMG 707. But i wanted it anyways. I have an Duncan Invader 7 stringer on my other 7 string, thats a good pickup too.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Very hot. This sounds basically like a 7 string version of the 81, but with more bottom end like an 85.
Tone: Sounds pretty scooped, trebly, with good amounts of bass, and little mids (how i like it, i can always add mids with my EQ anyways)
Sonic evaluation: With this pickup, im running an ESP M-307 (neck-through) through a Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifir 100w Solo Head into a Mesa/Boogie Rectifier 4x12 Cabinet. For pedals I use a Boss DD5 and a Boss Chorus Ensemble. I also use a Line 6 POD 2.0 occasionally too.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play metal (anything from Sabbath to Fear Factory to Slayer). This pickup is suitable for hard rock, heavy metal, etc. The clean sound is surprisingly good.

Overall Rating : 9
Comments: I'd get another one, sure. Its a great pickup. I really like the Seymour Duncan 7 string pickups too, but this baby is sweet as well! I've been playing for many years. I also have an Ibanez RG7620 7 string, a Fernandes Vortex Elite w/ Sustainer, an Ibanez S470FM (ugh), an ESP V-250, and I have a USA Custom BC Rich 7-String Beast on the way! Woohoo! Im very satisfied with this pickup! Keep in mind if you want to install this on most 7-string guitars you will have to do mod your guitar body.. but with the ESP Neck-Through 7-strings this fits in perfectly! Still havent found 'that' sound but im damn close.
