Features
:
Pickup features: Active humbucking 7-string pickup
Impedence or other specs:
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: ESP H-307
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: stock Emg H-707's
Other pickups on guitar: EMG 707
Artists using this pickup: Dino, and Kirk Hammet is getting them in his custom 7.
You musical style(s): HEAVEY METAL, WHAT ELSE.
Reason for pickup change: Well, i though that buying a guitar with EMG H-707's would be just like getting the 707's themselve. God was i wrong, the H-707's are shit pickups. I am truley happy i put these in my guitar.
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: WAY THE FUCK MORE, BUY THESE.
Tone: Perfect for metal, lots of highs and lots of lows, almost no mids.
Sonic evaluation: I am using a Peavey 5150 combo. In my current state, the tubes in the amp need replacing, but i am still using the amp with the bad tubes(the new tubes are currently being shipped). Even with a shitty sounding amp, this guitar still fucking rocks. I have never heard a 7-string play like this before; these are some excellent pickups.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play metal, this is a metal/hardcore/hardrock pickup. I could go for more of an EMG 60 sound in the neck position though, instead of two 81 sounding pickups, which isn't bad.

Comments: If they were stolen, then my guitar would be stolen. I would get the same exact setup if they were stolen, i highly recommend these pickups to people who are really considering getting high quality pickups. Don't be fooled by EMG H-707's because they are horrible, go all the way, get the 707's. The best, and i think only, active 7 string pickup on the market. If you don't trust me, ask anyone who is really serious into music. They will tell you how much better EMG pickups are than anything else.

Pickup features: 7-string Humbucker Active
Impedence or other specs:
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: ESP LTD M-207
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: Duncan Design 7-string (Stock)
Other pickups on guitar:
Artists using this pickup: I guess the guy from Fear Factory although I think they suck and had no influence on my purchase!!
You musical style(s): Progressive/Metal/Classical/ right now I play in a 70's Funk Band
Reason for pickup change: I hated the stock pickups. They sounded like mud. The Low B wasn't hardly destinguishable at all. I used the guitar for about 3 weeks and was so mad at the pickups I locked it up until my EMG's came. I had desided to change the pickups before I even bought the guitar, because I had another guitar with Duncan Design pickups and I allready new they would be worthless.
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: Way more output and much clearer
Tone: Well scooped. Not muddy at all!!
Sonic evaluation: I have to much equipment to go into detail. I have about 5 complete setups depending on what I'm doing.I have 5 different processors and 2 different rack setups. This thing sounds great with everything.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: For Metal and Progressive this is Awesome. Right now I play in a 70's Funk band. This pickup actually does a pretty good job even for that .

Comments: I would definitley replace it. I've been playing for 13 years and I have 13 other guitars most of them were around $1000 or more. THese pickups make this guitar I paid $500 for, plus the $250 for the pickups, sound better than any of them and has made this my main instrument.Even at full throttle wist masive gain this thing is still clear and destinguishable. I'll Probably never find "THAT SOUND" that we all look for in one way or another. But I'm getting darn close.

Model of guitar or bass: Ibanez Rg7620
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: Dimarzio Blaze-New
Other pickups on guitar: EMG 707
Artists using this pickup: Dino Cazares
You musical style(s): Metal
Reason for pickup change: I realy didnt like the Dimarzio Blaze-New's, there NOT the same ones as the Universe ones.EMG's have higher output, and well IMHO, there sound alot better
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: More of a metal tone then Blaze-II's, Very similar to EMG 81's
Tone: great low and high end, made for metal!
Sonic evaluation: Ibanez RG7620 to a rack with Marshall JMP-1 Pre Amp and a EL34 100/100
Power Amp.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Great for Metal (Not Korn Metal, Real Metal like Metallica,Slayer,Megadeth,Meshuggah...)

Comments: If it was destroyed or lost i would probly buy it again, i think there better then the Blaze-II's but EMG should come out with somthing more similar to the EMG-60 for the neck.

Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: Ibanez custom seven string
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: DiMarzio Blaze
Other pickups on guitar: EMG 707
Artists using this pickup: Dino uses them but I really don't like Fear Factory that much
You musical style(s): Hardcore/metal/rock/classic rock/industrial
Reason for pickup change: I have a bunch of guitars that I have put EMGs in. They just create a bigger, better, louder, cleaner, tone.
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: Extraordinarily high output (Maybe a little louder than the 81). The sound that you always wanted to get but never could until you tried an EMG.
Tone: Very...EMG like. Its got plenty of definition, and a good controlability factor to it. I guess Bassy with no mids and a solid treble.
Sonic evaluation: Custom Ibanez seven string with a Mesa Boogie Dual rectifier rackmount, Alesis 3630, Roland GP-100, T.C. Electronics 2290 Mesa boogie coliseum 300 Power amp.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Hardcore/metal/rock/classic rock/industrial. It is very well suited to all of these styles. It gets a little muddy in the neck position but otherwise it is very cool.

Comments: I'd definitely get another. I tune my low string to A and the rest of the guitar to E A D G B e. I chose this pickup because A) not many companies make seven string pickups B) EMG rules

Pickup being replaced: Ibanez Stock Pickups
Other pickups on guitar:
Artists using this pickup: Dino from Fear Factory
You musical style(s): all styles, but with this thrash metal!!!
Reason for pickup change: the stock blazes were good, but why be like everyone else?
The EMG takes the extra step, and sounds damn good!
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: hotter then hell
Tone: bassy (it's a 7 string for crying out loud : ) Also, gives you the nice harmonics we all like
Sonic evaluation: I'm using whatever amp stays working...this thing sounds great with distortion..period.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: metal...nuff said

Comments: The drawbacks are that you have to get your guitar rerouted for active pickups, but the payback is killer tone. I decided to get these pickups after talking to Dino from Fear Factory at a show.

Features
:
Pickup features: Active 7 String Pickups
Impedence or other specs: Unknown, Specs similar to EMG-81
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: Ibanez RG-7
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: Stock pickups / Dimarzio
Other pickups on guitar:
Artists using this pickup: Unknown
You musical style(s): Industrial / Bardish Metal
Reason for pickup change: Stock pickups had weak output and seemed lifeless. Much less
pleasant than pickups of this years RG-7... I also wanted more
output, and something different, way different than my Universe
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: About 30% more (signal meter wise) than the originals.
Tone: Strong upper bass, and searing top end. Seem mildly scooped
Sonic evaluation: Rig : Mesa V-Twin into a Fender Princeton Chorus. Also used with Digitech RP-20 Valve processor. Pickups installed with EXG guitar expander and a "Tone Switch" that cuts almost all low and mid range, leaving a very metallic sound.
These pickups were quite a pleasent surprise. I was expecting good, but these are down right deadly. The output is quite solid, and the tone range was a HUGE improvement from the original equipment. With the additional active tone controls from EMG, the sonic area this guitar can now cover is light years beyond what it had been.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: This pickup makes a fine addition for any metalhead who wants to slam signal into unsuspecting preamps. The effect with the Mesa tubes is truley to die for. The low B string gives a thunderous chug powered by these pickups.

Comments: These pickups are really good. The one drawback is that they are wider than the standard 7 string pickups (if there is such a thing). So this install in NOT for the timid. They will have to use a router
on your axe to install them. So get a good shop to do this. I would recommed this for an RG-7, but it would be a gut check if you were going to do this for a Universe. I am blessed to have both, so I have taken a lackluster axe, and transformed it to a new favorite.
As far as "THAT" sound. Well, put it this way, I am looking to get into sonic places that few are covering, and with the additional electronics (plus that 7th string), I would say I am there.
Love: Output and Tone
Hate: Non Standard Size...
Compared To: The only other aftermarket pickups I have purchased were Dimarzion Dual sounds MANY years ago. These are quite different. They are true EMGs.
I will not give them a 10 because of the size, but if that does not matter to you it is an 11!
