Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: Louder than a PAF or any passive pickup I have tried
Tone: Not as much Bass as a PAF..very nice balance of tone and Drive.
Sonic evaluation: The EMG-89 Has two modes , single coil and humbucker. The single coil has a nice glassy sound to it,and not quite as much volume as the humbucking mode. The modes are switched via push-pull volume pot which comes with the pickup. In the Humbucker mode with the volume low, you get a nice transparent, almost acoustic sound from the pickup. As you turn up the volume you get enough power to overdrive any tube amp. The harmonics and sustain are remarkable. And there is ZERO noise! I love it!
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: This is the most versatile pickup I have ever played through...I truley believe you can play any type music with it.
Overall Rating
:
10
Comments: I would definitely buy it again.I love how you can go from a glassy acoustic sound to all out wailing with this pickup. No mud..and no noise.
