Features

Active Humbucker/Single-coil

I installed this in my Carvin 127 Guitar
Sound

The output level is punchy yet the sound is round, not harsh. I do not consider it too bassy, since it fits well with Les Pauls and this Carvin.
Like others using pick-ups in the 89 series, I could notice a volume drop between the humbucking and single coil modes. What I did that fixed this was getting an angled pick-up ring and playing with the 89R angle. Since this model has the single-coil towards the neck, I had that sides angle up towards the strings. Now, when I switch, it is much more balanced.
I play Metal, Rock, bluesy and funk type stuff.

Overall good sound, and even though I prefer the SLV as a stand-alone single coil, the SA provides a better contrast when switching against the 85 sound IMHO.
I do not regret switching, but for clean sounds, my old Carvin neck m22N
