Features
:
Active Low Impedance Single Coil Pickup in a Humbucker Housing. This is the equivalent of the EMG SA in a humbucker housing.
Instrument
:
I installed this in a Schecter Hellraiser in the neck position.
I am replacing the EMG 85 which was moved to the bridge to replace an EMG 81.
Right now I have the EMG HA in the neck and an EMG 85 in the Bridge. I want to get an EMG H to place in the neck so that I can move the HA to the bridge.
I do not like EMG humbuckers. I do like the single coil pickups.

A friend had some Fralin Tele pickups (passive) and they seemed to have higher output than the EMG HA.
I am using this with a Menatone TBIAC into a Damage Control Womanizer going direct.
Nice balanced tone. Bass may predominate a bit. Clear. Very responsive. Clear, Crisp clean tone. Overdrive moves it into P-90ish territory to my ears.
I play post-punk/post-rock stuff and fusion. The HA is a good match. I am not so pleased with the 85.
I think this is suitable for both the neck and bridge depending on what other pickups you are matching it with.

I might like to try some Harmonic Design Z-90's or some Fralin P-92's.
I have been playing for more than 20 years. Fender Bronco guitar. Gibson Falcon Amp.
I am fairly satisfied but I would like to explore the possibilities of some of the passive pickups out there.
