Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: High Output, not that good for shred though. The output is suppressed slightly by the natural bassiness of a 24" scale guitar.
Tone: Chimy and Bassy at the same time. The bottom most strings are twangy but a little bit thicker than on a passive pickup. The higher strings sound chimy and almost acoustic-like. My guitar sounds like a Piezo Trasducer equipped guitar when run clean with this pickup (no I do not have a hidden piezo transducer on my guitar).
Sonic evaluation: Fender Jag-Stang with a Boss ME-6 and a Fender Jag-Stang. The sound is unlike any single coil pickup I have ever heard, great for faking acoustic lines on an electric guitar in concert.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: This pickup works well for metal and new wave, and occasionally for blues. It's too bright for Jazz and too dark sounding. It needs to sound more analog first (I think active pickups sound more didgital).
Overall Rating
:
10
Comments: If it where broken, yeah I would buy the same thing, but as for stolen pickups, what dememnted psyco is out there jacking peoples guitars for their pickups. Has there been an instance some guy left his Kirk Hammett signature model ESP in a dark alley for an hour after a gig to come back and find the guitar still there with the case and all else but the pickups? I have been playing six years and I have never heard of someone finding their guitar on blocks with the pickups removed, that seems a little funny. People running around in society jacking peoples guitars for pickups, that is one sick person. Chances are if a thief came across a guitar, he would just take the whole guitar rather thanm take the time to open the case (or pry it open for those who still have their case keys), take out the guitar, loosen all the strings, unscrew the pickgaurd, cut the wires and run with the pickups in their hand. Anyway, I think that is enough of my silliness for now on jacking guitars for pickups.
