No Opinion
Perceived output level: Slightly hotter, but much cleaner thaan originals
Tone: Balanced and sweet
Sonic evaluation: I installed this Emg-TC set on a custom Telecaster that I built up mostly from WDmusic parts about 7 years ago. The neck pickup (passive)WDmusic pup suddenly died. I replaced The entire set with the EMG's.These things are totally noiseless. Mostly I do recordings in my mini home studio.
Telecaster into a Johnson J-station,(a great unit), straight into a stereo sound card. My software is Power Tracks Pro by PG Music. My Cds turn out fine.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Mostly original compositions.

Comments: These pickups are bright, clean and clear. If you want high output or distortion, don't bother. But if clean is your thing, with no chance of shock, even in the rain, (if they are good enough for David Gilmore...)then you cant go wrong. I love em.
I've been hacking on guitars for 30 years, Gibson SG, 12 string Ric. The tele and these pickups are the most vesitile I've played.

Features
:
Pickup features: Active "single" coils
Impedence or other specs: What?
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: American Standard Telecaster
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced:
Other pickups on guitar:
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): Working covers band
Reason for pickup change: Had my Strat swapped to EMG-SAs and needed/wanted my backup to match in output levels.
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: Hotter than the standard, maybe a couple of notches of gain on a JCM800
Tone: On a clean amp setting, you won't get much cleaner than these. A lot of tone, brighter than standard.
Sonic evaluation: Using a Line 6 Flextone II amp. JCM800 and Blackface models. They're not your vintage Telecaster sound (if there is one) but combined with the rest of the guitar, it is still a Telecaster - different to the EMG-SAs in sound. The neck pickup sounds great!
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Like I said, it's UK pop covers from 50's rock'n'roll to current Stereophonics...

Comments: The benefits for me are no buzz from dimmers and fruit machines that UK pubs are great for and also the high quality signal from these is just what a digital amp needs. An excellent, quality product.
I installed them myself. Instructions were good but they failed to indicate which way around the connection went between the wiring loom and the pickups. Found the answer on their website FAQ....hence why didn't they say so in the first place? Apart from this all kit worked including supplied switch, volume and tone pots.
