Features :
Pickup features: Passive Single Coil
Impedence or other specs:

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Custom telecaster
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: none
Other pickups on guitar: Stewart MacDonald Golden Age Humbucker (neck)
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): rock, blues, country
Reason for pickup change: Built this guitar for a friend and he wanted to go with the Fender pup rather than a Duncan Broadcaster...

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Medium output. About the same level as a Duncan Broadcaster. This is "stock" tele level, not an overwound, hot pickup.
Tone: To me, this pup is too much on the trebly side. I much prefer the sound of the Duncans...
Sonic evaluation: Using an alder bodied, maple necked telecaster through either a Fender Hot Rod DeVille or a Peavey Classic 30.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Would be good for country, have to roll the tone back too much for rock on this one. I could reduce the treble at the amp, but then my other guitars would sound muddy....

Overall Rating : 7
Comments: It was okay to try. I built this guitar for a friend and he wanted to go with the Fender pup versus the Duncan. His loss... If you're considering this thing, please check the Duncan Broadcaster before you buy: you may prefer this one, but at least make sure.
I wouldn't buy another one.

Features :
Pickup features: Single coil
Impedence or other specs: huh?

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: parts tele with LaSiDo body and Warmoth neck
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: Duncan Broadcaster
Other pickups on guitar: Fralin neck pick up
Artists using this pickup: ?
You musical style(s): 3 chord overdriven twang
Reason for pickup change: The Broadcaster was to middy for me as are alot of other Duncan pickups I have tried. Many of the aftermarket Tele Bridge units seem to head straight for the midrange to calm down the inherent treble of the Telecaster but they always seem to strangle the life out of the pickup in the process.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: "Punchy" comes to mind...or"snarling" might describe it as well. Hangs in with humbuckers in output.
Tone: Sweet treble and just a touch of enhanced midrange to give it body.
Sonic evaluation: Here we go...Amps used are mostly old Fenders and a late 90's Top Hat Club Royale. This pickup is surprisingly quiet and I'm amazed at how well it distorts either with stomp boxes or just cranking the amps. Very well potted. It offers a nice combination of classic Tele spank but with more power and girth. You can play blues leads with this pickup...in fact when I play slow blues, thats the guitar I reach for while it used to be a Strat or some humbucker equipped piece. Really expressive and very versitile in that you can play at any volume you want and still sound good..Some Tele pickups scream like banshees as soon as you hit the compression or turn the amp up past 4 but this thing is very well behaved. I'll keep searching for more "quack" in other pickups but this one will stay in it's present guitar for good. I've tried alot of after market brands and it occurs to me that none of them sound as good or certainly any better to my ears than the Fender products. I have not tried all of the boutique stuff and I'm sure some of them are great, but to assume stock pickups need to be switched out might be a waste of money.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable:

Overall Rating : 8
Comments: I've been playing a long, long time but I certainly don't consider myself an expert regarding pickups or tone. There is alot of variation in Tele bridge pickups from thin and duck like to the previously mentioned over-midranged units which sound dull to my ears. This '52 unit is one of the best I have tried and if you want a Tele sound but are concerned about the overly shrill reputation that Teles have. go get this pickup and enjoy the both worlds

Model of guitar or bass: telecaster vtge. reissue
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: stock
Other pickups on guitar: emg
Artists using this pickup: unknown
You musical style(s): country, classics
Reason for pickup change: always looking for tone, curious

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: medium
Tone: balanced
Sonic evaluation: using a hot rod deluxe, the pkup. had a well balanced sparkle tone

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: country, some classics, instrumentals

Overall Rating : 7
Comments: This pkup. performs as advertised by Fender, aproximates the tone of a 1952 tele. As a player, teacher of 35 yrs., I have owned and played these classic instruments, smooth tone with good sparkle. However this pkup. is not the best tone choice available. For a great mid-high "pumpkin" tone, try a S.D. alnico series unit. If a beefy tone is desired, the S.D. Broadcaster is an excellent pkup. For absolute atom splitting try the Vintage '54.
