Pickup features: Single coil passive
Impedence or other specs: 6.3neck ,6.5 middle 7.3 bridge

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: American Series Strat Chrome Blue
Position: neck
Pickup being replaced: N/A
Other pickups on guitar: N/A
Artists using this pickup: Who cares, I am the artyist using this setup. It;s got the Erick Johnson,SRV,Hendrix,Gilmour SOUND. All in one.
You musical style(s): Hard Rock, Jazz, 70's Rock, souther Rock, Metal,Lation (Santana)
Reason for pickup change: I bought this guitar because I wanted a maple neck and rosewood neck for any and all situations. Best of both worlds. I will say this. The rosewood with this delta tone soundsa exactly like my maple neck with lindy frahlins. The feel is differnet, softer with the rosewood, but they both sound very much alike.
If your thinking about the American series, go for it!!!
Guitar Trader had mine for $849.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: These pickups are alot better than any of the Vintage noiseless found in the Deluxe fender strat. They have as good of a sound as some Frahlins. This is only this one guitar that has that capability. The others I tried didn't have the midrange or clarity of the Lindy Frahlins like this guitar had. I feel lucky to find that in a stock guitar PUP set. I expected a low clean yet glassy output from all but the bridge, and it does just that. However this one guitar has more output even with the pups set real low to the guitar. I am going to re-adjust my other strat to be identical to this one to compare Lindy Frahlins to Delta tone.
Tone: The neck position is sweet, smooth and has some guts to it. 2nd pos is really nice just what a fender is all about. Middle is o.k. hotter than the other two. 4th is superb and you can not hear a change in volume from 1-4 positions. The bridge is great too. None of the pups seem muddy or over nosiy. Typical hum but if you know strats you know this is the norm. I think the 2nd position is the best I have ever heard, Better and cleaner than the Lindy Frahlin 2 position.
Sonic evaluation: I use a Tech-21 212 120 watt combo amp. This thing is the smart mans way to get alot for little money. Sure it's not a tube but it can come closer than you would ever imagine.
I use a BOSS VF-1 signsal processor, this is my true love, between the amp and this vf-1 I think I can emulate every kind of sound available except the studio S.O.T.A. equipment effects. For gigging or just rehearseing you will not beat this combo. It will take thousands more to beat this. So this strat is going to be given a fair foundation to do its thing with. SRV sounds are goodDavid Gilmour sounds are really good, better than the other strat with the Frahlins. I still like them both. The Gilmour sound is not as fat on the first two strings, so I added some Eq to help it out. Much better now. Beefed up the mids and upper mids with sligh decrease in lows. This guitar was setup pretty good from the factory just a little action setting to suit me. The neck was very straight no truss rod adjusting needed. The pups are set low with the treble side about 1/32 higher than the bass side. It seems to give it that unquestionable strat sound. I usually set mine up close to the strings but this seems to work good on this guitar.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I will use it for all styles except heavy however someday may go with Rio Grandes in this strat to see if its possible to go another notch closer to what I am searching for. This is an extremely nice pickup set, buy one if you can. It should put the fender back in your Texas Special or Deluxe. There really is no hope for a MIM. I play blues, rock and hard rock, some jazz, and no country at all. I know the strat is a contry guitar, but I will not use it that way.

Overall Rating : 8
Comments: I have learned that the American series strat is the way to go for budget shoppers, and if it were stolen I wold get another due to the delta tone setup. I like delta better than the deluxe's vintage noiseless,or the Texas Special a darker sound. I even like it as much as the Lindy Frahlin. But only on this one guitar, my other American didn't sound anything like this one. luck of the draw. I don't hate anything about these pickups, tehy do what fender desinged them to be. FENDER sound!!! The only thing I will say is that I still can not understand why they don't have more color selections available for pups pickguards and guitars. I will rate this an 8 but I wanted to put down 8.5

Artists using this pickup: Who Cares

Reason for pickup change:

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Pretty hot for a single coil
Tone: Pretty Middy and Bassy with mid knob on guitar turned full, treble is present too
Sonic evaluation: I'm using this with an American Standard Strat through a Boss Metal Zone, and a Fender Princeton 112. It sounds really good and crunchy with the metalzone with the right settings. the clean is kind of cool in that crappy kind of way, I like it.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: This is awsome for Punk and rock, ok for grunge but there is not enough low end for that

Overall Rating : 8
Comments: Well this pickup will be replaced cause I can put in a humbucker cause this guitar is routed. This pickup is a rad pickup for a single coil if you sitll want that single coil sound, but if you want a blasting distortion, check out a Seymour Duncan hotrail, jb jr or a dimarzio fast track 2, all these can fit in a single coil slot.
