Sonic evaluation: I use this guitar with two different tube amps: Ashdown Peacemaker 40 (12AX7's + EL84's, 1x12, 40W), and a Crate Vintage Club 60 (12AX7's + EL34's, 1x12, 60W). I mostly use the Ashdown.
If you had to describe this pickup briefly, I'd say it's got a lot of the classic strat pickup sound with not as sharp an edge, and is a little fatter in tone making it better for jazzy leads, fatter comps, and richer overdrive neck pickup leads. Maybe like a P90 sound. It gets even a little richer/fatter when I run it through an Ibanez CS-9 chorus.
I think these pickups are amazing for being stock pickups. :-) Through the Ashdown it sounds a bit like the neck pickup on a John Lennon Epiphone Casino. It's sound on the clean amp channel is clear, clean, and rich for a single coil (although definitely not as fat as a humbucker). It blends very well with the other Lace Sensors on the guitar in the other pickup switch settings.
When I switch on the Tube Screamer it has a rich, singing, almost haunting voice. Very nice.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Mostly jazz, blues, pop, rock. I don't know how the blue pickup would fare in middle or bridge positions.

Comments: Overall, I really like this pickup. I would not think about replacing it with something else other than to experiment. Certainly not for lack of satisfaction. The pickup is very versatile and has great tone through a good tube amp.

Comments: If anything happened to this pickup (should it be drowned by a Budwiser), it would be replaced with another of it's kind. I have been playing guitar for 29 years (damn, that hurt), although mostly bass, and I am more than just a little impressed with the quality of this pickup. It has turned this $200 Tele into a machine to be reckoned with.
But I would ask the nice folks at Fender to do one thing for us all... Please make DAMN SURE there is a wiring diagram packaged with each one of these units before it is sent out! I do not spend that much time at Radio Shack. Between that and replacing the three way selector switch (a necessity after burning the first one up trying to find the right combination), it took me the better part of five days to get the damn thing back together (the new three way switch didn't have a wiring diagram either!!!).
But all in all, judge what you want to by any other reviews, Fender would not have put their names on these Lace Sensors if they weren't worthy. If you have a Tele, especially a Squire, this will open up a whole new sonic world for you...But keep the stock lipstick at the neck! The harmonic balance between these two pickups is awesome.

Pickup features: passive single coil
Impedence or other specs:
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: Am Std Fender telecaster
Position: neck
Pickup being replaced: fender stock
Other pickups on guitar: Seymour Duncan Hotrails
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): rock (Led Zep, The Doors, Ac/Dc, Aerosmith, The Who, Guns n' Roses... and other similar stuff)
Reason for pickup change: wanted something similar but better than a fender stock
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: pretty much the same as the stock p/u, a little hotter
Tone: it's kinda trebly, but not the trebly that will make your ears bleed.... the sound is really clear... no mud.... and well balanced too... supposed to sound like a 50's PAF... if that tells you anything but I dunno much about that...
Sonic evaluation: I use a Tubescreamer and a Boss guitar Eq and a Boss bass EQ through the loop of a Boss Noise suppressor..... a Dunlop crybaby and a Morley volume... in the high gain of a Fender stage 112se
Like I said, The sound is really clear... you can hear all the notes in the chord.... I love it when used on clean sound with a bit of breakup and some half-distorted tones...... sounds like a million bucks... but not heavy enough on full distortion.... too bright... leads have alot of punch/bite but are not smooth enough... I have too roll off the tone knob a bit.... but it's still pretty good
the combination with the Hotrails is surprisingly good.... very good middle tone
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: It's a good match depending on the song I play... but it's not a good all-purpose p/u because I play too different things and only have 1 guitar...

Comments: I've been playing for 7 years now..... I don't think I would buy it again.... because it's not smooth enough on distortion... I'd try to find something a bit warmer.... or just buy some other guitar.... thinking about a Les Paul.... If you want clearness, buy this pickup....

Pickup features: Hmmmmmm...... single coil size, but these Lace thangz is strange......
Impedence or other specs: Some sorta alien technology, so I'm told.
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: Fender DeLuxe Nashville Tele
Position: middle
Pickup being replaced: Tex-Mex
Other pickups on guitar: Rio Grande Vintage Tallboys in the neck and bridge positions.
Artists using this pickup: Fender claims Clapton and Buddy Guy use Lace sensors. If so, I am thoroughly impressed.
You musical style(s): Blues - Chicago style, and classic rock
Reason for pickup change: Diasappointing tone (or lack of it) from the stock Tex-Mex pups. How'd all that mud get in there?
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: Let me see if I can paint the right picture here. Stock Tex-Mex pups: avg. output. Rio's: higher than stock. Blue Lace: higher than Rio's.
Tone: Yassuh! This is the tone I wanted! Nice, fat bass without being muddy. Compliments the Rios' brightness.
Sonic evaluation: As I mentioned, this was placed into a Nashville Tele. Played through a Classic 30, Princeton Reverb II, Blues DeLuxe, and Pro Jr it sounds REAL strong for the blues and classic rock. Just for shits an' giggles (cuz I normally don't use OD) I hooked up a Boss Blues Driver and the walls come a tumblin' down, fellers!
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Great for my blues/rock stuff. Might be a little too bassy for you country boys. Metal head distorto mutant freaks might like it, but I dunno. Don't them kids use hummers?

Comments: Well, now. I've read and heard both good and bad things about Lace sensors. This is my first experience with them, and I like it. This pup is stayin' in my Tele - that's for sure. I've never tried the rest of the Lace rainbow (red, silver, gold, chartreuse, lavender, whatever)so I can't comment on them. But this Blue one is doing exactly what I wanted it to. Gives my naturally bright Tele a fatter bottom. And that's a sweet sound to my ears. Tone is such a subjective thang, dontcha think?

Perceived output level: Lots of beefy twang. Excellent for chicken-picking.
Tone: Trebly with good midrange. Clear tone.

Comments: One note of caution to all buyers: the Tele Lace Sensors operate on a different (and inconsistent) color scheme than their Strat counterparts. According to Fender, the Blue bridge and Silver neck tele pickups are their "traditional" or "vintage" sounding entries: this is obviously different than what Blue and Silver strat Lace Sensors are marketed as.
