Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: Vintage quack. Thicker than the single coil gold lace sensor.
Tone: Trebly, but with sufficient mid
Sonic evaluation: These pickups can be raised higher than normal magnetic pickups--can be raised
up to before the point where the strings hit them while you're playing.
This helps raise the volume on a pickup which is slightly higher in output
already. I get the kind of vintage quack I'm lookng for. I don't find them
at all sterile. A great sound for what I play: rock, blues, and country. It's not a
hot pickup, but when I use my overdrive pedal, which I use as a lead channel,
I get a very rich tone.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I use the dually in the bridge position. It's a great match for what I play.
