No Opinion
Perceived output level: The HS-3 has less output than a standard fender single coil
Tone: The HS-3 has little bass, ok midrange and a soft trebble
Sonic evaluation: I use a scalloped Fender Stratocaster, a -74 Marshall JMP 50Watt head and a Pevay 5150 speaker cabinet (4*12"). To get distorsion I use both a distorsion pedal and the JCM amplifier. For crunch sound I a Boss Overdrive and for heavy distorsion I use a Korg Tone works "Hyper distorsion". Thats it!
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play AOR, melodic hardrock and blues. This pickup is absolutely best for heavy distorsion, not so good for blues or clean guitar.

Comments: I've been playing guitar for 11 years and it's NOT the best pickup I've used. The HS-3 is great when you want a noise-free single coil pickup at heavy distorsion. It has a very soft tone and sounds much like a single coil even thou' it's stacked. If you want a genuine stratocaster sound with lots of bass and trebble, this is not the pickup for you. What can I say... if you play alot with distorsion and the humming bothers you, go get it! If you play crunchy guitar or clean guitar, stay with your standard pickups.
