Features
:
Pickup features: Single Coil , Passive
Impedence or other specs: 5.25 ohms
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: Fender Squire Stratocaster Bullet Series COMPLETELY FRANKENSTEINED
Position: neck
Pickup being replaced: n/a
Other pickups on guitar: Carvin AP11 in the mid and Carvin M22SD in Bridge
Artists using this pickup: WHO KNOWS?......ME!
You musical style(s): MANY STYLES ACCEPT FLAMINGO AND SLIDE
Reason for pickup change: Swapped out the other two but kept this one in the neck because nothing sounded anywhere near as good.I wanted a richer sounding pickup for my mid position(more midrange) and a humbucker for the bridge for a fatter sound that wasn't quite so bright with the traditional single coil sound.
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: 5.25 ohms with steel plate on back giving it somewhere around triple the output A VERY LOUD PICKUP ONCE MODIFIED
Tone: VERY bassy and bright but not twangy treble. Extremely clean and crisp sound. THE IDEAL SINGLE COIL FOR A STRAT NECK POSITION
Sonic evaluation: Talk about plunky, bottly and CLEAN! These stock pickups give such a bright clean sound I like them better than the Tex Mex pickups, Fender Lace and basically Fender American series pickups in general! This series of guitar had a very good quality neck and pickups in them and that's about it. The clean sound is simply amazing. A warm bright tone great for blues, jazz and rock/metal. With the metal plate on the back boosting them I can not get over how great they sound! I have never heard a better pickup in a strat for giving the signature strat sound. The bass and treble is definitely louder than its mid output but has a very smooth roll up for both. If you have the opertunity
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play primarily metal, all variations of rock , blues and jazz but really a bit of everything. This pickup with the simple steel plate mod is suitable for all positions. I could tell Start guys I paid $150 for and once they heard it they'd believe me!

Comments: If something happened to this pickup I would truly be crushed. I have the other two still and could use one of those but FINDING a replacement probably wouldn't be easy without buying another old bullet. I have played for around 8 yrs now and own a variety of totally customized/modified guitars. There's nothing about this pickup I don't like!! I've never heard a better pickup. I wish I could get one of these into my other guitars neck position but it's not routed to fit it. I know people say nothing is perfect or nothing a ten but with instruments thats not totally true. For neck or bridge these things are unbeatable!! I prefer a pickup with a fair amount of midrange for my mid pickup making it not applicable to me for that one position. Bridge I typically prefer a humbucker but not always.
