Single coils, impedance was about 3-4K if I remember. Passive of course. They came along with my stock strat.
Instrument
:
Stock strat, nothing fancy. They were in all positions. They aren't replacing anything - they're going to be replaced soon. I wouldn't think any artist worth his salt would use pickups which sound as weak as these.

Buwahaha... are you serious? These pickups on my strat sounded so thin, I thought the amp was dying or I had a faulty volume control. They literally sound like the guitar has no life, and is about to croak and die any moment.
The only fx I could use it with are a delay and a chorus. It sounds terrible with any sort of overdrive and god forbid, fuzz like distortions.
There is some clear definition in the bass notes, but the high E string sounds quite a bit softer than the other strings. I guess it's because of the cheap pickups. The response is not even.
There's really none of that magic Fender twang, chime or bell like tones. These pickups sound sterile and dead.

Buwahahaha again. Anyone owning these, and has a few dollars to spare would be better off replacing them with anything else. Even those cheap Korean Mighty Mite pickups on my old Cort sounded better than these.
As the previous reviewer said, Fender should stop making these cheap piece of sh*t pickups and just buy something halfway decent from some third party vendor.

Obviously single coils, passive. Dont know about impedance and don't care, all I want is great tone.
Instrument
:
These are from my stock MIM strat, in all positions. They're not replacing anything, in fact they were replaced by a wide variety of pickups including Fender SCN's, texas specials and Van Zandt's.

Do I even have to write anything here? Fender should simply start buying pickups from third party manufacturers or put in some better pickups. Almost anything is an upgrade from these pickups. The stock pickups are ok for a beginner's guitar but once you start playing, I mean really start playing, then you will be disgusted and quit music.
Come on, these pickups are thin and lifeless, quite trebly and lack character. Frankly, I've seen better pickups on cheap $180 Korean Cort guitars with their Mighty Mite single coils - they are hotter and sound much better than these.

What ? Are you serious? If it was not stolen, I'd rip them out of my guitar and leave it lying on the sidewalk with a big poster board advertising free dog chew toys. Hmm... forget that, it would be cruelty to animals, well make it a free weird shaped hockey puck or doorstop. If that didn't work I'd leave them on the asphalt on a freeway.
