Features :
Pickup features: Humbucking, passive
Impedence or other specs: 16.8k output

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Epiphone Les Paul Custom
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: Stock
Other pickups on guitar: GFS Liverpool Overwound at neck
Artists using this pickup: who cares?
You musical style(s): rock & just lots of phrasing and warbling to suit my mood
Reason for pickup change: Gibson/Epi pickups are by default middle-of-the-road to suit all tastes.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: At the very top end. As much as an EMG, without the battery.
Tone: Thick but with a sharp edge up front. Kills that tinny ring at the top end that you get from the stock six-pole underachievers.
Sonic evaluation: Keeping it simple these days. Behringer GMX212 w/ FCB1010. Good for studio, almost too much for the house.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Suprisingly, great for clean channel as well. It's a gorilla for rock, but calms down nicely.

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: The Crusader is percievably powerful, but the first thing you notice is how quiet it is. Like EMG quiet. No fussy buzz or talkback, which was just a wonderful surprise. Last time I installed a high-output passive was a Dimarzio super distortion. It was all distortion and no super. This is the best high output I've used (in 28 years of playing). Would be a good value at double the cost. Also, subtle effects like reverb and delay really shine through this PU. If it were a light fixture, it would render the full spectrum through the middle, and high-white-blue on the edges.
