Features
:
Pickup features: Passive single coil for Tele bridge position
Impedence or other specs: I measured the impedance at exactly 9.99K...no joke.
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: 2000 Fender Standard Telecaster, made in Mexico
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: Original
Other pickups on guitar: GFS Alnico Fat
Artists using this pickup: Beats me,
You musical style(s): Mostly blues & punk
Reason for pickup change: Original pickup felt weak and lacking bass response.
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: Quite hot especially compared to the regular pickup.
Tone: Emphasis on mid-highs, think of a Tele-fied P90 pickup. Lots of power, gets nasty in a nice way, more bass response than the original.
Sonic evaluation: I'm using a custom Amptramp BF10 tube amp, a Morley Bad Horsie 2 wah, and either a Boss DS-1 as a clean boost or a Fat Boy Fuzz to mess things up. As mentioned, the pickup has a lot more power but still twangs like a Tele pickup should. Very authoritative, cuts like a knife through the mix.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: It suits my combination of blues & punk perfectly.
Overall Rating
:
10
Comments: I give this pickup an excellent rating. To besincere, I bought it because the price was right and read a few good things about them on TDPRI.com. I had no idea GFS pickups were *so* good. This is a well-kept secret. I'm completely satisfied with the tones I'm getting--this pickup really hits hard the preamp of my dear Amptramp. Highly recommended!
