GFS Pickups I17 Authentic Premium Vintage Staggers

Installed in a Fender MIM 50's strat. I tried a set Duncan Alnico Pro II also

These have vintage output and won't overdrive an amp easily unless using a boost pedal, which is good if you're after a more vintage tone. I play it through a Princeton reverb and several smaller amps also a Twin. The sound is classic strat, clean and bright but a bit thin for heavy rock. I get good Mark Knofler and Robert Cray tones. I tried the Duncan Alnico Pro II and they sounded flat compared to the GFS. I suspect the Duncans would handle more signal processing, but going straight into an amp, the GFS had a better vintage tone.

These are cheap enough to buy another set it they broke, for the money I don't think you will find the same sound quality from a another pickup.

Just wanted to correct the guy in the previous review :
A middle pickup that is not reverse wound will not lose the in between sound. In fact it enhances it. Which is why some people prefer a non rwmp.
If that clown really has a 59 strat with 1960's pickups in it, then it shouldnt even have a reverse wound middle pickup. dont believe everything you hear.

GFS markets these as a recreation of vintage fender pickups. I tried teh set of 3. It was supposed to be a reverse wound set. Low impedance in the early to late 5's. The impedances advertised were off from the actual pickups.

Installed in a '59 Fender Strat. This guitar has 60's pickups in it to start with which sounded very warm and smooth. The in between sounds with teh reverse wound middle PU were awesome. The overall output however was weak thats why I tired the GFS.

The GFS pickups had a little more output but sound like crap. They are totally sterile. All the warmth the previous pickups has was gone. I cant believe the reviews I;ve read about GFS. These pickups sound like all the ohter cheap asian made pickups - BAD. TO top it off the middle pickup is not reverse wound or wired so there goes the out of phase fun.

The tone of the GFS pickups is empty. Its just bland sterile tonelss crap with a touch of icepick. They are going in the garbage.

I cant beleive the difference between my dirty old used up vintage fendes and the GFS. THe Fenders sound smooth like Stevie. The GFS sound cold like the guitar was made of sheet metal. Those who write the positive reviews must be deaf.

If someone stole these GFS pickups I'd thank them.

The old pickups are going back in and the GFS in the trash.

I bought a vintage tremolo from Guitar Fetish once too that was also a peice of junk. These guys are simply marketing korean junk and its all lies.
