Features :
I have nev Lil Killer 10k, usually used as middle pup in a calibrated set. Actually, this is probably the best sounding bridge pickup

Instrument :
I wanted to tune my Japanese Fender, actually incredible well built strat, better than many USA strats i tryed. So my seti is SH-3 on a nneck VV 54 middle and Lil Killer 10k on a bridge. The result is some mictute between Yngwie Malmsteen and Iron Maiden sound, so agressive metal sound. Great. I replaced originak vintage pickups, because I put them on my other alder strat (this one is baswood). I wated ine vintage sounding strata, and another dressed to kill.

Sound : 8
Output is quite high, what is to be expected from 10k pickup, and quite bassy, but all those pickups need 500k pots, for optimal performance. I tryed 15k Lili Killer, but my musical taste changed, so i prefer a pickup with more details but still with a maximum chunk and grind. Extremely hot pickups are always somehow muddy. This pickup has one purpose: metal, but it serves this purpose in the best possible way. I would give it a 10, but it is still ceramic pup, so old good Alnico5's are always better.

Overall Rating : 8
This is typical GFS pickup. Extremely good for the price. I don't know why people dop+ not produce rails type strat pickups which are Alnico 5. Probably there is some reason, but this is the only thing i would like to see in GFS offer one day.

Matched ,graded set of LiL' Killers rails type.

Instrument :
I have taken to fitting these in my custom'ST. guitars and get rave-results from my buyers.

Sound : 10

The secret of getting a great sound from them is? mine' but revolves around selecting the right pot's and a unique tone switching network involving different cap's that I have designed. If you know what to do these are Bargain-buy's at the price.

Overall Rating : 10

LOVE EM' just Killer' value.

Features :
Lil Killer set of 3 mini-HB's, check GFS site for detailed specs.

Mine checked at 14.5K, 10.2K, and 6.2K.

Instrument :
Stuck these in a 2007 Squier Vintage Modified Strat. Built this as a second Pickguard set. First one is a full set of GFS 60's/70's Overwounds which are really nice (just standard SC hum noise).

Wired with a 5-way superswitch from StewMac. WAnted a hotter vintage style rig.

Sound : 10
Hot in the Bridge, Medium Hot in the Mid, and Warmer Rounder smoother in the neck.

Not too bassy, not too bright, very well behaved and has some great clarity. Positions 2&4 have a nice chime/slightquack (splitting coils of respective PU's). The straight HB mode of pos's 1, 3, & 5 is pure humbucker and sounds really nice.

They're not fat sounding but have more body than SC's and less beef than full size but still cut nice and handle gain very well. Expected type of sounds from good quality PU's with a Bolt on neck.

Playing through effects (KOrg AX3000G and some Digitech )both to a Tubeworks 100watt and straight clean into 2 Vox Pathfinders in Stereo.

All around very useable. I really like them. I'm diggin Rail PU's more and more. Tired of singles. The only Full singles rig I have now is and Am Del Strat with SCN's/S-1

The price for the set is $60, less than say > ONE Dimarzio Fast Track 1 (I also have that in another guitar).

These sound so incredibly solid you can't ignore them.

Be cautious of the terrible reviews previously. I have my suspicions about how well the wiring jobs were done. One wire out of place/ungrounded etc. could easily make one write a nasty review. But based on my experience with my own projects, if it sounds like total crap, it's probably not the pickups fault. Check yer wiring. a 5-wire pickup can get some people confused

Overall Rating : 10
GFS is a kick*** company. I'd buy again fer sure. Like another reviewer said somewhere, Damn those bastards for making me want to buy all they're stuff. HA !

These pickups are very good. As I mentioned above beware nasty reviews that say they're not good when the reviewers can't say how their wiring job went or if they bothered to check it.

I've been hot-roddin guitars a lot the last couple years. GFS stuff is solid and cheap/affordable just flat out does not automatically mean junk these days. Be smart of course when you buy but from GFS I have complete faith.

These compare very favorably to other blade style PU's I've tried like Dimarzio FT1, and the Carvin TwinBlades. They're all very good.

Bought a set of three of these off eBay. They were calibrated for each other very well.

All of the pickups were single-coil shaped humbuckers. Passive.

Forgot the other stuff, but that's OK.

Instrument :
I installed these in a Mexican Strat. The Strat is a good guitar. I've got a Dimarzio Evolution in it now and it sounds great.

Sound : 3
The only pickup that was even mediocre in this set was the bridge pickup. As others have already said, the neck pickup is absolutely trash. The middle isn't good either. Stick with Dimarzio or Seymour Duncan.

Overall Rating : 1
Trash. Stay away from these pickups. Maybe GFS makes other pickups that aren't so bad, but these are terrible.

Features :
I'm using the bridge position rail with coil tap.

Instrument :
Installed into a SRV type American Strat through a boutique overdrive pedal and vintage Fender tube amp.

Sound : 9
I am comparing this to a Seymour Duncan Hot Rails bridge position single space humbucker. The GFS sounds just as good as the S.D. to my ears except not quite as thick and therefore has more clarity.
I rarely use a humbucker without an overdrive pedal on. I'm not sure why so many people are using the word muddy for this pickup.
You can NOT compare this to a single coil pickup because it's like comparing apples and oranges.
It does what it's suppose to do: give a Strat more of a Les Paul type fatness and punch - without being muddy.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing professionally for 30 years and use mostly vintage Fender Strats and Fender tube amps. I use a humbucker in the bridge position of a Strat to make it more versatile for the rockier stuff.
If you did a blind fold test on me I'd probably have a hard time telling you which is the cheap GFS hot rail and which is the more expensive Seymour Duncan Hot Rail.
If anything, the GFS is not quite as fat sounding and therefore seems to have a bit more clarity. This is a general comparison because I have not A/B'd them side by side or in the same guitar.

It was 5.74K Ohms on my meter. This is a noiseless rail pickup placed in neck position of an Ibanez SA160.

Instrument :
Neck position. Ibanez SA160. Replacing stock pickup (Ibanez AS1). GFS Zebra Crunchy PAF in bridge and stock middle single coil are on this guitar.

Sound : 1
Muddy and undefined. This pickup sounds worse than the stock single coil and has no character or definition. I tried it in several guitars, and all applications were muddy. The pickup does not directly fit into a standard Strat pickguard or a direct mount single coil space. You will need to mod your pickup or guard to make it fit. JUNK JUNK JUNK -- Stay away form this pickup and do not believe the hype.

Overall Rating : 1
Terrible sound. No tone at all. TOo many people say GFS pickups are on par with DiMarzio and Duncan -- no way. These pickups are terrible sounding and less than mediocre. The guys at Guitar Fetish are very nice and do provide superb customer service and a generous return policy, though.

Fits very well with the Strat pickups /perfect replacment for those that like the Mid /Neck sound but want a more ballsy Bridge sound. Also mixes much like a stock Strat when on Mid / Bridge!

Instrument :
It's in the bridge position of a Strat I built in the middle a very old fender pup. and neck a Duncan Hot Rails.

Sound : 10
This is a powerful pickup awesome crunch thick just heavy
Not distorted btw when checking out a pickup ALWAYS-
GUITAR + CORD + AMP ABSOLUTELY NO EFFECTS!!!
your tone comes from 3 things hands, wood, & pickup
anything after that adds other flavors to your tone
and it's important to know how to play your amp ie: settings-
they will vary. (when not testing I use a wah, delay, & phaser)
My main amp is Mesa Boogie Triple Rec. and this pickup sounds
great through it very quiet no microphonic feedback- I play it plays
just beautiful- the only drawback if you want to call it that is that you'll need to open up the pickguard route to install but for me it was small price to pay besides sandpaper is cheap.
Singing highs, great mids, thick bass great AC-DC type crunch!
I play psychedelic heavy rock.

Overall Rating : 10
I've owned this pickup for 3 years I didn't pay much for it bought it on e-bay took a chance I would definitely buy it again if something were to happen to it.
I've been playing for 28 yrs. - compared to a Duncan Hot Rails I love
Duncan's (neck) for the neck position but for the bridge go w/ GFS Lil' Killer, for this Strat I have the tone I was looking for but it will be different for the next guitar I build

Features :
HUMBUCKING STRAT STYLE P.U. THAT LOOKS LIKE A BARDEN. Passive, with 4 wires for coil tapping. 7k-15k i believe, balanced for 3 pickup setup on strat.

Instrument :
Installed into a custome "Telebuddy" that i built, basically 2-pickup Tele-style with a 5-way switch. I needed humbucking for playing at our church with bad ground loops and electrical noise.

Sound : 5
Output is good, mostly clear with some muddiness at low frequencies. I play all styles of guitar. This pickup offered some interesting wiring options with the 4 wires and a 5-way switch. Used through various amps. Using 500k vol/tone pots at GFS recommendation. The sound is a bit too harsh and brittle, rather sterile for my tastes, and disappointingly microphonoic, i.e. light tap on guitar is heard loud and clear. also, they do not easily fit in a strat pickguard hole.

Overall Rating : 5
I would get something else. Maybe GFS's other pickups are better sounding -not sure. They have a variety at good prices, but these were a disappointment. I have bought other products, and they are good about answering questions. The microphonics of the pickup and the sterile sound/feel is my main beef.

Humbucking pickup for the neck side.

Instrument :
I put this on a G&L Tribute S-500 Premium guitar, in the bridge position. I replaced the stock "magnetic field" pickup, as I looked for a heavier sound.

Sound : 5
I looked for this pickup as I wanted to get the Iron Maiden sound. Well, this pickup is pretty good for crunch sound (AC/DC) but it gets muddy when adding distorsion. I sold it and replaced it with SD HotRails and now I finally got a great tone !

Overall Rating : 5
Well, I already sold it, so never mind. I loved crunchier tone with this pickup. I didn't like it's finish. It's a little bit larger than the standard strat pickup slot, so it's insulator tape was bending when inserted in position.

Features :
Single coil sized humbucker with North and South finish leads for coil tapping (using only one coil instead of both), phasing, or however you want to wire it.

Instrument :
I got 2 of the 10K version which is designed for the middle position. It is reverse wound so that if you use it with other single coil pickups it will automatically coil tap and act with the other pickup as a humbucker. It is a humbucker on its own as well. I put this pickup on two of my strats: on one of them it went into the bridge position and on the other it went into the middle position. They make them for all positions though. On both guitars it is the main pickup I use, it gets a really nice punch.

Sound : 10
It has a nice loud output, I had to lower it a lot so it didnt drown out the other pickups. When I coil tap it on its own though, the output level drops a lot, so I don't coil tap it on its own anymore, only auto-coil tapping for the 2nd and 4th positions.

Overall Rating : 10
If you want to turn your strat into a fat strat, like I wanted to do, this is the best pickup you can get without switching to a pickguard routed for a fat strat. I absolutely love it.

Features :
This is a humbucker in single coil format, kinda like the Seymour Duncan Hot Rails. I bought two of these: 15k for the bridge and 10k for the neck.

Instrument :
I put it in a cheap strat pickup which had these horrible cheap single coils in it. They were ok for cleans, but sounded awful with overdrive. So I put these two little killers in the bridge and neck positions.

Sound : 7
The bridge pickup (15k) is very hot. It tends to distort the sound a little if it's too close to the strings. The 10k version is medium-output. I'm using this with a Behringer V-Amp2 through my headphones or through my Marshall MG 15CD amp at home. When I rehearse with my band I play through a Marshall combo.
It doesn't sound like a single coil at all. If you want the typical Strat sound, forget about this one. It sounds like a real powerful humbucker. I can get very nice cleans out of it, it has a lot of mids. It doesn't sound too bright at all, it lacks a tiny bit of high end for my taste, but that can be adjusted on the amp. The neck pickup sounds very bluesey when played clean. With overdrive the bridge pickup is a real monster! This thing rocks! I noticed it sounds better when I dial in more mids on my amp in clean mode. When I cut the mids, it sounds too dark.
I play mainly rock & metal. It's very useful for stuff like Iron Maiden, Guns N' Roses, AC/DC, Metallica, Ozzy,...

Overall Rating : 8
If it was stolen, I could get full-sized humbucker from GFS, like the Crunchy PAF or Fat PAF, not because the Lil Killer sounds bad, but because I like to experiment with gear.
I have been playing guitar for 15 years now. I like the sound with high gain, but I could use a bit more highs when playing clean. It's very good for the price anyway.

Single coil-size side-by-side humbucker. Mine is 10k. They come in 6k, 10k, and 15k.

Instrument :
Telecaster
Middle position
Seymour Duncan Cool Rails
Other pickups installed are a set of GFS Modern Vintage Lil Punchers
No idea...
Wanted to match the Lil Punchers

Sound : 9
Fairly hot, but not overpowering. Like a Duncan Customer single coil or a Texas Special without the rawness tonality. I got the 10k model even though the company recommended the 6k model. The middle pickup tends to get in the way. Having the 10k model installed allows me to lower it enough to get really nice tone and balance with the other pickups and it doesn't get in my right hand's way.

I use a Line 6 Flextone III Plus and a Marshall ED-1 compressor. The tone is bright and clean but with a little hair on it. I never have liked the tone of a Strat pickup in the middle position by itself. I have it wired to a push/pull tone pot. I have a standard 3-way switch that operates like a modern Tele. I have the tone pot wired so that when it's down, the middle pickup is on. Up position, and it's off. That's the way I like it wired. Due to the nature of the pickups all being in the 8-10k range, the tone is a little fatter than most single could would be. That's how I like it though.

I play in a Christian Pop band that has a style that mixes a little Smooth Jazz, R&B, Modern Country, and Rock. These pickups are great for that style as I love a Strat quack and the tone of a Telecaster bridge pickup. The neck pickup can get very mellow and smokey while also handling Blues very nicely.

I believe this pickup would handle all styles with little or no problems.

Overall Rating : 10
If it were lost or stolen, I would replce them.

I've been playing >30 years. Some pro but now just for fun. I will always search for "that" sound; however, I have learned that the hands play such a major part in the tone that I don't try pickups as much as I used to...

Passive, single space hot rail style humbucker. I got a cream colored pickup, but they're available in white and black also. This little sweetheart is HOT, overwound and meters out at 13.8K. SWEET!!!

Instrument :
If i had any idea what these were like i would have bought the matched set, however, i just got the bridge pickup for my squier strat. I was getting squat out of the stock pickup and i read about these on ebay. They're cheap and i'm on a budget so they fit my circumstances.

Sound : 8
As i said before, these pickups are nice and hot. It made an immediate, drastic improvement in the sound of my strat. I play mostly through through a Line6 Flextone XL. I play Power Blues and Hard Rock. Some people might consider what i play Heavy Metal. I play high gain tone mostly, but i play more melodic, no brutal stuff. Think Skid Row, Badlands, etc. This pickup is GREAT for the stuff i play. The most amazing thing , to me, next to the great tone is how SILENT this pickup is. I can turn my 100 watt amp up to 6, wich is RIPPING LOUD, leave the volume on my guitar all the way up, take my hands off the strings and what do i hear? Absolutely NOTHING!! We are talking Silent!!

Overall Rating : 10
They are reasonably priced and sound great, i would definitely replace them. I have been playing for about 17 years, seriuosly for about the last 4 years. I have or have owned many guitars and amps, but i'm not getting into that here.

High output humbucker in single coil size. Around 15k. Passive. Very hot! Basically, I seymour duncan hot rails kind of thing.

Instrument :
I installed it int he bridge of a cheap strat copy, replacing the original single coil, which was not good for distorted sounds. I changed it to experiment and to see if GFS are really that good like everyone says. Man, I wasn't wrong!

Sound : 10
It's very hot! Very high output! I use it with a Marshall Valvestate for rehearsing with my band and with my V-Amp 2 and/or Marshall mg15cd practice amp at home. Sounds killer! Has a humbucker sound, not much high, loads of mids, clear sounding. The sound gets distorted really quick though, if you turn back the volume it can sound jazzy.
I play mainly hard rock and classic metal: Iron Maiden, Ozzy, Guns N' Roses,... And it screams!!!!

Overall Rating : 10
I would definately get the same pickup if it was stolen or destroyed. In fact, I'm getting the same pickup fo the neck position soon. It sounds excellent, especially for the price. It's perfect for hard rock and metal. This is 100% my sound!

I also changed the crap 5 way switch to guitar fetish's Super-strat" 13 Sound electronics kit with their 3 CALIBRATED Lil Killer HB Rails for Strat & I was planning on using GF's Onboard Preamp Clapton, Brian May, Mid Treble Booster but that was way to much to mesh with all of that electonic's, so I made my own switchable foot pedal for the treble booster and use it with the Brian May Vox Special Recording Amp for that killer Queen sound.
Wow. I cannot believe my ears man. I can hear every note very clearly, even with some fat distortion.

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: fender strat MIM
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: stock pu's
Other pickups on guitar: none
Artists using this pickup: probably quite a few
You musical style(s): most genres, rock, blues, jazz, twang, whatever pays
Reason for pickup change: The mim pu's are very weak in tone and power.THese new GFS LIL'killers changed all of that.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: I chose a configuration for more power in the neck and mid positions. The added presence and fullness in tone and output was quite a pleasant and welcome change. Now,every note has definition and clarity.
Tone: I'd say these pickups "beefed up' my tone by leaps and bounds over the stock fender mim pickups. Not muddy at all.
Sonic evaluation: I gig with a pa system a lot,so i depend on my effects for overdrive and color.I also have a crate power block amp that i run into a carvin 12 inch speaker in a cabinet that i built.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Again we cover anything that the client wants to hear. These GFS pickups are easily as good if not better than the duncan hot rails that i have on another strat of mine.I use that one for slide playing. I cannot think of any situation where this pickup would be unsuitable. These are four wire, coil tappable pickups, and are very versatile. They can be wired for single coil and/or full humbucking applications.

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: All in all,a tremendous bargain for the money,no joke.I couldnt believe the difference the pickups made in the way the guitar responds.Note definition in fast runs is focused and precise, not foggy and untransparent.Could also be that the concept of a stratocaster without hum is very appealing to me.If they were stolen,i would hope that there will be some more available. When players find out about these, they will become rare birds. These pu's also look very cool on a strat.I am extremely happy with them.Been playing since i was a kid, first gig was for 50 cents and a fish sandwich.I"ve come quite a way since, but i still love to play and sound good.

Comments: PLEASE READ!!!!!!!!!!!!Jay and Dave at Guitar Fetish are REAL pros. I bought two 13k lil killers and did not like them for center and neck positions. They were not my tone.(Too Hot) HOWEVER I would not hesitate to put the 13k in the bridge position. They scream!!(In fact that is what is in the set of three!) After a quick responce from Jay, I shipped them back to him. Dave immediately shipped out two of this new designed calibrated set to meet my needs. A 10k for the center and a 6k for the neck.(neck is my fave) I love the tones generated by these!!! The mix perfect with my Hot Lil Puncher(Tele) in the bridge. If you are looking for a VERY versital set without the noise, but with ALL the tone and punch.... this is them. If you want the traditional Strat bell/sparkle ...I also recommend the Vintage Alnico Staggers. I own this set also!!Read that review. I just LOVE GFS pickups!!! I started buying them for the price... but now I use them because they are a SUPER product from a Great company...GUITAR FETISH ROCKS!!
I have been playing for 31 years....as a Pro/Semi-Pro live and Session Player... and just for the fun of it. These pickups are UNREAL at ANY price!! You can not go wrong with these pickups. Quality all the way. And tone tone tone!!!That is what it is about after all. I would and will buy these again!!! Try em....you'll love em! Chris Barnes www.productoffaith.net

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Hot and very Bassy very sensitive to where you place it under the strings.
Tone: Bassy but real nice treble single notes are full on higher registers
Sonic evaluation: I am using this with line six spider II combo. big improvement overstock very full sounding but not humbucker farty sounding, It does have a lot of Bass and is needs to be tweaked to sound good. took about 3 adjustments to get a usaable balance. GFS should lower output a little for neck pick ups. when I click over to distortion it gives me a big muff sound thru plexi model.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: blues, clean tones and rock british tones

Overall Rating : 9
Comments: I would like to see a little more improvement and maybe some more offerings on this type of pick up. Jay certianly headed in right direction and was worth the money. Another minor note you really have to squeeze this pick up in to fit single coil slot. What did this pick up help me accomplish with my guitar. Full thick cleans and good balance with my humbucker when both pick ups are on interesting neck humbucker high gain sounds. Was worth 28$ and GFS keep on designing some more pick ups like this.10 for value 8 for sound.
Peace Mcdee
