Features :
Pickup features: Humbucker, passive, nickel covers
Impedence or other specs: ?

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: 1992 Les Paul 1960 Classic Plus
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: stock pu's
Other pickups on guitar:
Artists using this pickup: beats me
You musical style(s): rock, blues
Reason for pickup change: The stock pickups were of the super-distortion variety, more suited to heavy-metal than what I play.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Vintage-mild output.
Tone: Typical humbucking tone: big 'n beefy.
Sonic evaluation: Tweed Bassman or a Vox AC-30, with an Ibanez PUE-5 in front (a pedaboard with a tube screamer, tube driver, delay and chorus).

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: For straight ahead rock 'n roll, or traditional Chicago-style blues, these work great.

Overall Rating : 9
Comments: These are a major improvement over the stock pickups. I can't figure why Gibson would build an ostensibly 'vintage'-style guitar with super high-output shredder pickups. These are much sweeter, tone-wise. Some of the reviews here mention the bridge pickup being muted or muddy, the trick is to hike it up c-l-o-s-e to the strings---it'll brighten right up! I have an old honest-to-god zebra-coil PAF, and these compare very favorably.
