Features
:
Passive single coil pickups. On this guitar they're wired to a dummy coil that's tucked away in a control cavity in the back of the guitar. This eliminates hum and noise without changing the sound of the P90's.
Instrument
:
Gibson Blueshawk, stock pickups in both positions.

Output is considerably higher than that of a typical P90, but not quite that of a stock humbucker. Even so, it still has some grit on the clean channel when you punch it. The blues P90's have a lot more low end and sound much more full than other P90's, but they still have lots of bite. The neck position is very smooth and very clear. The bridge has a lot of attitude, and the dummy coil keeps them quiet like humbuckers. Not a subtle sounding pickup. Perfect for blues and Jazz, great for rock.

I've played over 15 years and I'm a helpless tone snob. These pickups sound great with a high quality tube amp, the tone is complex and organic with huge overtones. They're extremely responsive, so they're very unforgiving of sloppy playing, they don't do all of the work for you lke an EMG. If I can find more Blues P90's, I'd like to put them in all of my P90 equipped guitars, they're that good.
