Major warning! This pickup needs a lot of room (depth) and is quite different to most humbuckers. The plates that the adjustment screws fit into are over 34mm (1 1/3inch) from the top of the pickup, most humbuckers are a lot less than this, around 20mm. Installed it won't fit under the strings. For thicker body guitars like Les Paul Standards it's probably OK, but for the Studios it is useless, I am going to have to remove it and throw it away unless I can find some way to modify it.
It looks like this product is being phased out as it's difficult to find.

Perceived output level: big. blooming. full. not so hot that the pickup gets dark, but enough to draw serious gain.
Tone: bassy, and low middy, but with brilliant glassy treble - so glassy. itmakes my neck position as useful as the bridge. no shit!
Sonic evaluation: marshall TSL100, 1960a cab.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: for fucking anything the pickup rocks. can not fault it. seriously amazing. clean beautiful. acdc tones, easy. kyuss/queens of the stoneage simple. just an amazing pickup.

Model of guitar or bass: various
Position: neck
Pickup being replaced: Greco fat-Tele clone
Other pickups on guitar: '69 Gibson PAF
Artists using this pickup: I don't know of any
You musical style(s): Acid-jazz
Reason for pickup change: Looking for that P90 sound in a humbucking size. What they claimed.
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: LOUD. more so than a true P90, and quite overpowering a stock Gibson PAF in the bridge.
Tone: Middy and muddy, regardless of pickup height. Top end noticeably absent.
Sonic evaluation: '69 Gibson ES150 through a weatherbeaten Fender Blues Deluxe, a Rocktron VoodoValve, a Line 6 Pod XT, and a Roger Linn Adrenalinn
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: So dark and lifeless I can't fathom what Gibson intended it for. It has as much in common with a P90 as John Candy has with Gandhi.

Comments: Through sixteen years of playing, I would say this was one of the more disappointing retrofits.
Might suit a very bright-wooded guitar with a super-hot bridge pickup. Otherwise, avoid.

Perceived output level: Normal output level. Not high, but not quiet.
Tone: This is a middy pickup, no doubt.
Sonic evaluation: I love the blues I've been able to crank out of this thing. It drives well, but watch out for mud. It's not hard to work it out though. Usually it's solved by just a knob tweak on your amp.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Blues rock, and heck yeah

Comments: I'm satisfied. If lost or stolen I'd look around, but I'd be looking hard at this again.
