Pickup features: passive humbucker
Impedence or other specs:

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: '68 guild Starfire III
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: This was the stock pickup
Other pickups on guitar: This is it, man
Artists using this pickup: Too many to mention
You musical style(s): Jazz, funk, fusion, (Blues, once in a while)
Reason for pickup change: I didn't

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: This has an output level that is probably slightly hotter than a gibson humbucker. I like it, as it can cause a tube fender to break up quite nicely when you hit that "sweet spot"
Tone: Quite possibly one of the best sounding 'buckers around. Fat, Fat, Fat. The bridge position is not overbearingly bright, and the neck position does jazz admirably. Fairly balanced, but the neck 'Bucker can be REAL bassy.
Sonic evaluation: This pickup sounds great on the fully-hollow guild thru a Fender Super Reverb. I like the tone much better than the Gibson 'buckers on another one of my guitars. I don't really like the guitar that much, but I'd hate to let go of the pickups!! Sometimes, though, the neck position can get VERY bassy. This is a sound I like, but it may turn some others off. This is, in my opinion, one of the most underrated pickups out there. I don't know if Fender's Reissues are as good as the originals (Not likely), but if you can find a pre-1970 guild axe with these 'buckers, definitely don't pass up the chance to hear what I am hearing. I don't know how they sound in a solid, but they are real good in a box.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Jazz. Very good match. Very, VERY good for bluesy wail with the amp overdriven. Suitable for all pos.

Overall Rating : 9
Comments: I really like these pickups, and I would love to take them out of this guitar and put them in a better Guild jazz box, (Thicker) or a 175. These pickups have great tone, but are ugly as sin. They have these little raised metal shapes on the chrome covers that really date the PU's. For beauty, choose a Gibson humbucker. For tone, grab this baby. This one works best thru tube amps, and sounds really good thru an old supro or tweed champ or other small, old amps.
