Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Solid body guitars (2) have natural sustain, medium high output-better than a Les Paul standard passive
Tone: Controls allow middy yet Ballz-to-the wall bass and lower mids, in out-phase position, this out screamsupper mid Strat, yet is capable of very clean and clear bell-like tones like an old Gretsch
Sonic evaluation: Two Bluesbirds(standard and high G tunings) both 72 models,
Rockman (original) Ampeg V4, Kustom leadIII, two-4/12 cabs with
EVM's, original Echoplex, MXR flanger, homemade octave divider(Motorola 4000 series chips only)Morley wah(old wah died) old Radio Shack 6-channel line mixer for parallel mixing, 2 DuKane 300w rack amps for growl, asst stomp boxes in series/parallel for fun(Zipper)

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: From old Buffalo springfield to Alan Holdsworth to Collective Soul

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: probably the two best guitars in the world. These are the de'Armond
style PUs Guild used for years, but the controls make them so flexible
that noone couldn't not use them for all styles. They are hot enough
to produce silky Page type Gibson stuff, but also can be funky enough to burble Pat Metheny type jazz, the only problem is that the natural sustain of the body has a tendency to lend a flat smooth reverb to the instrument that almost requires finger damping at high stage volume.
Ampeg tube preamp also colors tone in the mids a bit, but is compensated for by old fisher tube EQ from 60's(12AX7 driven)
