Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Ibanez S540LTD LR

Other pickups on guitar: F1 and C2
Artists using this pickup: ?
You musical style(s): heavy to shred
Reason for pickup change:

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: high output passive PU. very warm with excellent harmonic response. I believe these are made by Dimarzio for Ibanez.
Tone: Fits my scooped metal tone just fine!
Sonic evaluation: Ibanez S540LTD LR into Mesa Boogie Mark IV and Laney VC-50

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Metal, Shred and some fusion. This PU makes is made for the bridge position.

Overall Rating : 8
Comments: I'm an EMG man but these are just great passive PUs. These an Ibanez's Q series are great.
I'm very satisfied with this pickup.

Features :
Pickup features: Passive Hambucker
Impedence or other specs: I have no Idea :)

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Ibanez EX370
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: The crappy one that came with the guitar
Other pickups on guitar: The crappy ones that came with the guitar :)
Artists using this pickup: I know Alex Skolnick used it a few years ago
You musical style(s): Hard Rock, Metal
Reason for pickup change: The original one had a really crappy sound.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Extremelly hot. Like a PAF pro on steroids, or something...
Tone: it's very well balanced, nice low end sound and mids for rythm, but also very good treble for soloing.
Sonic evaluation: I have a marshall valvestate 80V (8080), and I've tried quite a few other guitars with different pickups with this amp, and I can tell you, this pickup really rocks!

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: For rock/metal sound, I have yet tried a pickup I liked better. This is a bridge pickup, so I haven't even tried it on any other position.

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: This pickup was developed by Ibanez and DiMarzio, and it was described
as a PAF PRO with higher output.
I'd buy it again (although Ibanez/DiMarzio don't make it anymore) if I had to. A friend of mine also has one of these on his guitar (a jackson), and I sounds just as good as mine.
This is (IMHO) THE sound. Almost everytime I play a live gig, other guitarists ask me what the hell did I do to have a sound like that, since they normally use the same amps and PA. :)
