Comments: I don't like them and I'm goin to put two EMG 81's in it. The guitar is pretty good, but this pick-ups aren't. Not enough sustain, bottom end, really muddy tone. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me

Model of guitar or bass: Ibanez RG-350DXWH

You musical style(s): Rock/Metal
Reason for pickup change: N/A
Sound

No Opinion
Perceived output level: Hot Like it says
Tone: Bassy/Good highs - Muddy mids
Sonic evaluation: Mesa Boogie Subway Rocket w/ Digitech RP200 effects pedal. I did some evaluating with several pick-ups (Dimarzio, SD) in this guitar in an attempt to eval the output level. Let me tell you these pickups have just as much output than SD-JB and DiMarzio Super Distotion. Where these pickups fail is in the clarity - mids get lost in bassy muddiness. Overtones/Harmonics are very good overall.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Metal

Comments: If they were lost or stolen I don't think I would lose any sleep. I've been playing for 18 years. These really aren't that bad. If you play metal you can get away with them.

Features
:
Pickup features: passive humbucker
Impedence or other specs:
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: ibanez rg270dx
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced:
Other pickups on guitar: all powersound
Artists using this pickup: beginners
You musical style(s): rock, blues, nothing too grunge or too heavy metal.
Reason for pickup change:
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: nothing spectacular, normal stock p/u's
Tone: very bassy, muddy, so bassy it makes it muddy, etc....
Sonic evaluation: only used with practice amp through a MT-2, EQ's are a must to clean up the sound, and the metal zone does that well. the combination of eq and good distortion is definately required to get any pleasant sounds out of this pickup.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: i suppose this pickup would be okay for someone looking for more bass??

Comments: satisfied with this pickup for about a year so far, but to be replacing it soon with a dimarzio PAF. i love my guitar, it feels great, but wish ibanez didn't have to put such shitty pickups in it. i mean, ibanez don't sell their own pickups, so isn't putting shitty pickups in their guitars in effect giving away business to other people?

Comments: I don't really mind the look of my guitar, but these suckers ruin it!
It's a shame. I have been told the bridge is crappy too, but I am not
sure why (Ibanez RG270dx)
I considered out the mid S and putting in a seymor duncan, but I think not! I am currently researdhing the easist to play - best built cheapo strat and am goint to outfit it with the best pick ups = either emg or seymor duncan.
Good luck with your search and as I always say..."STEER CLEAR OF IBANEZ!!!!"

Features
:
Pickup features: passive s/s/h
Impedence or other specs:
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: Ibanez RX40
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: none ! I'm buyin' a new guitar
Other pickups on guitar: other shitty powersounds
Artists using this pickup: HOPEFULLY NONE !
You musical style(s): 80's rock/metal
Reason for pickup change: these things just plain suck
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: weak
Tone: The neck pickup is WAAAAY to bassy/noisy and the bridge pickup just plain sucks
Sonic evaluation: I'm playing on a Ibanez RX40 directly through a 100w Marshall tube head w/ a 4x12 cab (with no effects).
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play any kind of metal, from Guns N Roses' ballads to heavy Childen of Bodom riffs...and trust me, this pickup isn't good for any of those styles !

Comments: If they were stolen, I think I'd find out who was stupid enough to steal them and I'd congratulate him :)
I've been playing for several years, and I can say that even the shittiest Jackson or BC Rich pickups are much better than Powersounds. Screw those pickups ! I'm getting EMG's !

Other pickups on guitar:
Artists using this pickup: None
You musical style(s): Metal
Reason for pickup change:
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: They say high output
Tone: Bassy
Sonic evaluation: For this I plug my GRX40 into a Crybaby into Big Muff into 10 watt Ibanez amp. Okay but leave a lot to be desired. They are soon to be replaced with EMGs. Single coils pretty much suck. NEck gives OK rythem sound. Humbucker is too damn noisy
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: If you turn the volume up and have humbucker on, You constantly have to fight feedback until you finally get mad and turn it off. NEck has very annoying feedback.
Overall Rating

Comments: If my pickups were stolen, I might be mad because I wouldn't have anything to play until the EMGs come in. There has to be someone this pickup fits, but it obviously isn't me.

Model of guitar or bass: ibanez GRX40
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: they came on the guitar
Other pickups on guitar: look above

You musical style(s): rock, punk, alternative
Reason for pickup change: *sigh* once again, they came on the guitar
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: They say high output
Tone: The singles sound hollow and bassy, the bring humbucking is trebbly.
Sonic evaluation: GRX40-->smash box-->crybaby--->small stone--->Park bass amp
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: The bridge are good for most things. The bridge are great for System Of A Down. I rely on my distortion mostly for tone, so its hard to tell.
Overall Rating
:

Comments: I'd get better ones. They are good and they came on a cheaper guitar, so what do you expect, nothing great. The sound is good for now, how long they will last the the real test. They are good, but expect to need new ones sometime in the near future. I've had them for less than a year so there is plenty of time for somthing to go wrong.

Other pickups on guitar: n/a
Artists using this pickup: anyone who wants bad tone
You musical style(s): Punk, Rock, Gospel
Reason for pickup change: these aren't replacements! I'm taking these Powersounds out my guitar as soon as someone tells me what pickups sounds good distorted on a Marshall.
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: Medium
Tone: twangy tone, can imitate and acoustic quite well, muddy/crappy distrorted tone
Sonic evaluation: I use an Ibanez AX120 through a Marshall MG30RCD. The guitar is definitely a great buy, and so was the amp!
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play Punk/Rock/Gospel....This pickup is unsuitable for anything, really.
Overall Rating

Comments: If my pickups were destroyed or stolen, I would definitely look into another pickup!
I like the twangy tone undistorted, but i hate the rest of the pickup.
I am still searching for the perfect match for my high-gain Marshall playing. Anyone please e-mail me if you know a good pickup for that!!
