guitar->Boss FW-3 foot wah -> Boss MT-2 -> DanElectro CoolCat -> DanElectro dan-echo -> Fender Deluxe Reverb
The distortion is sweet.... sweet sweet candy!
Clean sound is as good as a humbucker can be.
I've been thinking to replace the pickups... since they stock, and stock pickups sucks! But not these! After 3 months (that's long) I've simply decided to keep the Quantum pickups. My desire to replace the pickups only comes around whenever I'm browsing the classified ads... but when I'm playing the guitar, NO WAY I'M GOING TO REPLACE THEM! Yes, they are stock... ever wondered why they are stock in a $1500 guitar?
To those S-Series owners with these QM1, QM2 and QMS1 pickups, don't bother to change them... you'll like them eventually... or even instantaneously as i am..
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play rock, and this pickup ROCKS!!

Comments: If it's destroyed, i would cry, and get another Ibanez S540 just for the pickups... hehe...
The sweetest stock pickup ever!

Perceived output level: a little hotter than DiMarzio Evolutions, not much.
Tone: incredible, even tone...very clear and balanced. smooth distortion & easy harmonics when cranked. beautiful clean tones, quite warm.
Sonic evaluation: Ibanez S1520 Prestige into a Boss GT-3 processor, into a Laney 50w Half-stack. the boss can make anything sound like something else, but run straight into the amp, these pickups are extremely versatile. they are set up to be coil-tapped, run in series, parallel, any combination with the other p/u. the humbucking tones are very warm, les-paulish, but clearer and glassier. the split-coil, single coil tones are amazingly like a strat. i wouldn't replace these with anything.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: metal, pop, alternative, jazz, classical, you name it this pickup can do it.

Comments: well, it came factory-installed, so i don't know how i could get another one. i definitely rely on its tone for part of my sound. i am completely satisfied with this pickup, and i don't think it can be topped by any other. I've played eletric guitar for 11 years now, and i own lots of other equipment and pickups, from strat single coils, PAF's, EMG's, and duncan's to stock no-name pickups, this is the best of the lot.
